I *thought* that I'll be a pushy father and will take care of kids studies from A-Z but its totally opposite. My wife gets all things done from A-Z as far as studies are concerned and I feel very bad about it. She is very pushy on this.

Although I have kids and my schedule to blame but in real, there should not be any excuse for this. Kids studies comes first and I am trying to catchup on this.

I try not to do anything to an extreme. I do obsess a bit over the eldest and his eating since he's had so many issues and struggles around that.

I'm more moderate when it comes to pretty much everything else and I think this is the best way to let them become good all-around people, let them develop their own interests and let them have a little bit of feeling of independence. As long as they do well in school, I dont push them to be the BEST but if I see they have a big interest in some particular thing, I'll help them to develop and persue that interest. We have them in activities other than school (cub scouting, swimming, camping etc) and I think these activities are almost as important as their schoolwork.

If you push too hard with the academics and only the academics, I think you're risking turning them into "reluctant learners". They may get great grades in their early years but they do it beccause they have to. Not beccause they want to. This could lead to trouble later on, esp in high school when defiance can really kick in.

hm no i never come in way of their extra curricular activities but i want them to give their 100% in studies. i am ALWAYS willing to help them ..when i cud drive them to school i always made sure they were there on time and always stayed in touch with teachers.
as they grew up i tried to make them independent in their studies so they wud not need my spoon feeding. my girls were quick on that but boys they wud rather just stay on computer all day. my husband is always pushing ME to let them have a day or 2 off from school or leave them alone...it just USED to drive me nuts.
things are very calm now a days...i am not pushing and my husband is pushing for studies a bit... getting a more balanced atmosphere. i am not the bad guy any more.
