I have heard that you can predict the gender of your baby by using the heart rate of your baby during pregnancy. It was said that 140+ beats per minute (BPM) was a girl and under 140 BPM was a boy. Is this true?

^ I don't know that that is a hard and fast rule, but I think that is the tendency. Higher heart rates often indicate girls.

It's another one of the old wives tales.

It's definitely an old wives tale...I had a baby boy and his heart rate was always over 140...
My scan told me I am having a girl...but I did the ring on the thread thing and it always said that my first child would be a boy...I found it pretty freaky when fiction won over science in the delivery room haha

dunno if its true or not but where i used to live bfre they dnt tell u the heart rate anymore because a ew women ended up sueing the midwife coz she told the the heart n its most likely boy/girl
They said: Glory be to You! We have no knowledge except what You have taught us. You are the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. ( Surat al-Baqara, 2:32)

Baby girls tend to experience a higher heart rate at the onset of labor than boys, but at other times there is little difference, so it's not a good method for determining gender in early pregnancy.

You put a ring or other pendant on a string or chain---it doesn't matter, the important thing is to have a weighted object that you can dangle. I know of two variations:
1) If you're already pregnant, you hold the string over your belly, keep your hand absolutely still, and wait for it to start swinging. If it swings in a circular motion, you've got a girl. If it swings back and forth in a linear motion, you've got a boy.
2) You can also do this over the palm of your hand to 'read' what all of your children will be. Same thing---circles are girls, lines are boys. There will be a pause between each child. At the end (no more children left), the ring will stop swinging. I think it counts stillbirths/late miscarriages.
I tried the second method, and it said I'm going to have two boys and a girl, in boy-girl-boy order. I'm currently pregnant and according to ultrasound first baby is a boy!

^ I did it like the second method and I got 2 boys and 2 girls....in a boy-girl-boy-girl order....As I mentioned, the first one did came out right...
I did it for my mum and it came out in the exact same order as all of us siblings are....quite freaky to be honest!

Try it over your hand---it's supposed to read all children, including future children, so you can get a non-scientific, fun reading of whether or not a girl is next!
