Raw papaya (green / unripe papaya) contains an enzyme that can cause miscarriages in pregnancy. In some asian countries, when there is an unwanted pregnancy, the lady consumes raw papaya to cause an abortion.
I don't know if ripe papaya contains the same (or same amounts of this) enzyme, but if you want to be on the safe side, stay away from papaya.
It is possibly the same enzyme that is extracted from papaya and used in meat tenderizer.
One must make a mark in this world, if I am remembered for anything, let it be cheese and crackers...

in the religious books it says eat dates during pregnancy but in our culture we classify this as gurum food - but i think after 7 8 months it is okay. do you think i am safe to eat dates in the first few months between 4 and 5 months?

In the Quran is mentioned that Maryam was instructed to eat dates as sustenance when she was pregnant, so it's probably good to eat dates. I would disregard the garam factor.

This is true. Same goes for Pineapples.
Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom.

^ That's interesting, because many women experiencing fertility issues are encouraged to drink pineapple juice at certain points in their cycle, to aid in implantation.

You just have to be careful that it isn't raw and uncooked.

^ Raw pineapple is one of my favorites, but it's funny, in the first trimester I didn't want it at all. I guess it was for the best!

^ What? Why do we need to avoid that? People have been encouraging me to eat it -- especially cuz of the high iron content.

Apparently Liver is specifically banned for pregnant ladies bcos it has a high concentration of Vitamin A which is bad for developing babies. All the UK dietary lists have this as a no no.
