Ok, so what age is it appropriate to take a baby to the other side of the world, if at all?
I'm a little weary... i didn't even take my girls anywhere in public until they were around 6 months old

Meaning Pakistan or India. Not atleast 3 mnths old thats what I think.Because babies have low ammunity although they are on milk only but there are more chances they can catch germs. So after 3 mnths may be or after a year or 6 mnths a best option.

We took marya and stayed in a hotel for one of my conferences when she was 3 weeks old.

Interesting responses
Not Pakistan or India, UZ. We're going for a family vacation early next year, so it will be Vancouver or French Polynesia, as we've been there as a family a couple of times and we like it there
So wait after 3 months?

I don't know what the right decision is, but my mamoon and mumani took their son to Karachi when he was about 1 month old. My mumani had finally gotten all her greencard stuff processed and she was just very eager to go; she had missed both her brothers' weddings while waiting for all the paperwork to be processed. That year it was my wedding approaching and she was excited to be able to go asap and spend as much time in Karachi as possible. So they took the baby (and their 4yo daughter). MashAllah the kids were fine. The newborn was quite cranky and maybe colicy a lot, but overall health was okay.
