Haleji Lake near Thatta, Sindh - thousands of migrant birds arrive here each winter - its an internationally recognised conservation site. Its a declared RAMSAR site. Sadly when I got there last mid-March most had left.
Sindhi Shawls
Derawar Fort in Bahawalpur District, Punjab - its Cholistan Desert location gives it a much better feel than the other forts.
Derawar's new occupants - Just hanging around!
Derawar Fort Mosque - you can get a view of the desert
The Abbasi Royal Family Graveyard near the Fort
The Derawar Village - looks very poor
The Cholistan Desert - rich in natural heritage, history and culture - its more than a desert - ITS A WAY OF LIFE!
The Lal Sohanran National Park Canal
The Lal Sohanran National Park is located in Bahawalpur District. It comprises irrigated forest plantations, tropical thorn forest, a lake, canal and the Cholistan Desert. Wildlife includes Nilgai, Gazelle, Hog Deer, Caracal, Ratel, Striped Hyaena, Caracal, Wild Cat, Fox, Peacock, Partridges, Sandgrouse, Crow Pheasant, Shrikes, Vultures, Honey Buzzard, Egrets, Larks, turtle and plenty of reptiles such as snakes, lizards and amphibians. There is a captive breeding programme for the now extinct Blackbuck, Nilgai and Chinkara. The latter are quite rare too. Blackbuck and Nilgai were once found as far west as Jhelum. Hunting pressure has exterminated them form many haunts. Nilgai can still be found on the Indian border regions and Changa Manga. If given a chance they will establish themselves rapidly.

I think this is Karachi museum or a home of Jinnah
You are right, this is Jinnah's house. It's a beautiful place. We really enjoyed visiting it, last summer.
I think this is a room Jinnah used to study in

Oh I loved all the furniture at Quaid e Azam's house. It is so 'trendy and modern' if you know what I mean.
Fantastic pictures. Thanks for sharing. I particularly liked the ones from Thatta, Makli etc. We had also visited those places. And I still remember what a sombering effect the place has on you.

Thanks All! I have so many photos to share - thisthread wil be running for a while LOL
Silver falcon - yes the furniture is modern and trendy - dont you know retro is in?
Makli is cool. Very serene. Did you go around all of it? Pakistan has so many unique places but sadly so many troubles which keep people away from these places.

Scenes from Uch Sharif in Bahawalpur, Punjab. If you are ever in the area a must visit.

Agricultural Scenes in Khanewal
When a house is not a home. This nest was one of the 1200-1400 nests belonging to Oriental White-Backed Vultures in the region, of which all are empty. Within the space of 10 years the the population has dropped from a maximum of 1400 pairs to 0. A substance used in agriculture has killed them off. We visited the colony and saw 0. It was a very sad site.

Quetta City Scenes
The lovely Quetta cantonment, unlike no other Pakistani city - it holds its own.
Hanna Jheel and the Urak Valley, Quetta
HazarGanji Chiltan National Park, Mastung Dist, Balochistan - one of my most favourite areas. Its name translates as the land of a thousand treasures. The National Park is home to 1000+ Chiltan Wild Goat - its not found anywhere else in the world, Urial, Wolf, Hyaena, Wild Cat, Fox, Eagles, Vultures, Shrikes, Jerboas, Lizards, Tortoise, Butterfly.
Its just of the highway to Karachi, 20km south of Quetta but surprisingly serene!

Great job done! I have begun to miss my city. Seeing these pics reminded me of all the fun trips to the Lahore Fort and the Shalimar gardens.
