Autosuggestion

The act of autosuggestion is making a specific suggestion to yourself. Most people are making autosuggestions to themselves everyday and are simply not aware of it. This process of autosuggestion is an extremely powerful tool whether it is used positively or negatively. So it is of the utmost importance to use autosuggestion to your benefit not your detriment. Since your subconscious mind begins to act on any suggestion your conscious mind accepts you can achieve remarkable results with autosuggestion when used properly.

Unfortunately too many people get caught in a rut by constantly making negative autosuggestions in the chatter of their minds, for example: I cannot do it, I am always late, I never have enough money, nobody loves me. These negative autosuggestions have tremendous power over the individual as they become embedded in the subconscious mind and then manifest in the persons life. So why use negative autosuggestion when you can replace it with positive autosuggestion. I am always on time, I always feel confident, people like me, I always feel happy. Your positive autosuggestion works just as well as the negative but has the added benefit of making you feel good.

Autosuggestion is one of the most powerful mind tools you have so if you catch yourself making a negative autosuggestion, stop yourself before you finish the words and replace it with a positive autosuggestion. It is just that simple. It might take a little bit of time to clear out the negative self talk but when you do and replace it with positive autosuggestions you will notice a whole world of possibilities open up for you.

A world famous tennis player from the 1970s and 80s had some big problems in his early days as a professional player. He would often make it to the final in a tournament but always seemed to choke on the big points and never was able to win any of those final matches. This caused him a considerable amount of anguish and tennis commentators would often call him the choker. After losing a final he sat down to ponder what seemed to be the problem and as he thought about this he kept saying to himself I never win the big points, I always choke in the final. When he realized what he had been saying to himself in the chatter of his mind he quickly set about replacing these negative autosuggestions with a positive autosuggestion . He immediately began drowning his subconscious with positive self talk and the next time he played in the final of a big tournament he swept the court in a straight sets victory over his opponent and went on to become one of the best players of his generation.

Autosuggestion allows you to take control over the direction of your life. If you are a person who has perpetually said things like: I always fail, I never finish anything, I am too old, I just cannot win. Understand you are the one putting these ideas in your mind and you are reaping the results of this negative self talk. Make a commitment to change your negative autosuggestions to positive ones and you will regain control of your life and in turn live in a joyous state instead of an unhappy one.
