I believe in the merits of rationality yet I believe a system based solely on it is neither complete nor enforcible.

Logic is incomplete & there are intrinsic limits that are applicable to all formal systems & as a corollary also applicable to any ideology that is based solely on reason/logic & rationality, There is a very famous theorem called Godel's Incompleteness theorem about it.

Experiencing paradoxes in a perfectly logical system has been a very common experience since the very beginning of logic, this theorem only proves that such paradoxes can be constructed on all but the very elementary logical system.

What this proves is that the belief that any ideology or deductions based solely on rationality will some how always lead to sound conclusions is not true.


In my view it is impossible to drive all human beings based solely on logic..., the strength of our emotions outpower our ability to reason most of the times, e.g. even though sufficient evidence exists that proves the injurious impact of smoking on our health yet many perfectly sane people make the illogical choice of smoking..., you can add countless more examples of this nature.

Therefore I believe that only a system/ideology from a devine source(Allah) that is not applicable to the limits of human reasoning can be perfectly sound & sustainable. Only devine guidance can be trusted for being free of paradoxes contradictions & convolutions. Allah has completed the deen on Our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad PBUH therefore . I pray to Allah to give me Imaan & Umaal to act on it.

good ideas, thanks for sharing, above. convergent/ divergent thinking and inductive/deductive thinking in logical analyses are all a means to the end of predicting or assessing things after the fact.
what lies underneath the evidence of the real, yes, can very well be guided by the divine.
yet, the divine gave the free-will to surpass the emotional and stay connected with the logical.
human ties to our intrinsic motivational and biased emotional states run the length of the paradox tapestry in all its variation, throughout our lives. where the hem of logic gives way to the holes of emotions, relies on nothing but the adequate and appropriate linked spread and inherent strength of the thread of logical arguments and their implementation, and of course no one denies the grand scheme Maker's plans settled otherwise.
