A famous buddhist quote.

But really, is that true? Sometimes opportunity knocks, or help is in front of you but you don't see it...

Is that what this means?

Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open...

Peace Sister Niksik

This is a nice quote and to me it means the following:

1) The meaning of the good planner
When a student is prepared for his tests then he is 'ready' ... and the master is the who the student will become.

2) The meaning of getting better than ones teacher
If a student can outwit his master by being ready for him then he becomes a master

3) The true student meaning
When a student respects his master he is ready and prepared. The master appears to the student which means the student can only learn well when he respects his teacher. How can anyone learn from someone who he does not respect?

The Prophet(SAW) said:
"I am leaving you two things and you will never go astray as long as you cling to them -- they are the Book of Allah and my Sunnah." [Reported by Al- Haakim - Sahih].

I'm surprised by the question - do Muslims need a "master"? Isn't everything in the Koran? But to answer your question, yes. Sometimes you may not even know that you are ready.

One can not speak with certainty about the credentials of Gautama Buddha, was he a prophet or just a wise man we don’t know, however, what we know is that his preachings are very close to what other prophets has said before him, or what was preached by the prophets after him as moral values.

1) I don’t see meaning of this quotation much different from our religious belief that if you take one step towards Allah, Allah takes ten steps towards you.

2) we also know that it is Sunnah of Allah to ease up the pavement for you once you have decided to go along any path regardless whether the chosen path is permissible or not.

3) All the possibilities have already been created; it is only a matter of a strong will and absolute resolve to achieve the possibility. The readiness in quotation is manifested in the strong will, verily the Master has created every possibility already

Yes, even muslims go to public school and learn chemistry . We're talking about that kind of master here not the all-knowing malik e yaumedin master. Of course no one is greater than Allah swt or his book, the Qur'an.

^ It could take the meaning that:

The master will only teach when the student is ready to be a student. In Shaolin children line up outside the temples to be taken in and taught by the master, but they have to prove they are ready by sitting in a stance for many hours.

It is like an initiation test.

A sufi story goes like this:

Devotee knocks on the door, Sheikh on the inside asks, "who is there?"
"It is I master"
"Go away you are not ready to be with us" later there is a knock, "Who is there?"
"It is I master"
"Go away you are not ready to be with us", then after some pondering he goes back, knocking on the door again, "Who is there?"
"Thou art master"
"Come you are ready to be with us"

The student is only taken on when he has taught himself to be selfless and denying of his own ego and appoints all to his master to be.

these explanations are on the number 3) above ...

Another way to look at this could be enlightenment ...

That when a student has purged himself of all or as much baggage as possible he receives the gift of knowledge and guidance and when he is in this state of Muttaqi ... then for him his Master has appeared.

excellent thread, Niksik. there is a Chinese proverb, along similar lines. the teacher shows the door, but the student must enter the door on his/her own.

the right time for anyone, as it is called, a teachable moment, can cause change of hearts and minds, like no other.

but, the trick is not to cause indefinite delays or hold back or push away credible info out of ignorance.

the over emphasis of any educational means that otherwise holds truth and is ethical, is in and of itself an unwise and ignorant thing to do.

committing the personal with the educative is always an adventure.
noone has the right to take the rights of anyone else, from life constructive education.

the teacher can be religious in shape or form, or quite practical just like an innocent infant is, who has no front and explores the world with own hands when growing up into a todller.

Difference between God and humankind: God can say, 'be', and it becomes, but humankind has to act on what it says.
