Those who practice it and those who have it practiced on them are like or near the Kuffar in this regard.
The Prophet(SAW) said:
"I am leaving you two things and you will never go astray as long as you cling to them -- they are the Book of Allah and my Sunnah." [Reported by Al- Haakim - Sahih].

Good topic. I used to be so curious about these things for a really long time esp' after my Husband died and I was feeling so sad. I wanted to find all sorts of answers about what on earth my future would be as I couldn't imagine a future without my Husband. Its very tempting to think of these things esp' when one is feeling confused, lost, sad, curious etc.
Althought I was very tempted, I must admit, I still stayed away from it and seeked refuge and forgiveness in Allah Ta'lah swt because I knew it was forbidden.
We should stay away from it as Islam is opposed to it. Its all clever guesswork and superstitions.
Only Allah Ta'lah swt has the full and accurate knowledge to our futures and the unseen. We should trust in Allah Ta'lah swt and seek his guidance always.

Not to be in favor of palmistry, but not having hands is itself their ill-fate! Isn't it?

Yes, it's not allowed in Islam to predict the future in any way at all. But it is a tempting and interesting subject nevertheless. I wouldn't like to know my future though.
Nevertheless, when I was about eleven years old, we went to a theme park with school. I can't remember exactly which one, but there were palmstry machines. You had to insert a coin, put your hands within the limits of a hand drawn on many buttons. The lines of your hand were supposed to be "read" then, you couldn't move your hand until the machine was finished "reading" the lines. Then you got a card, on one side there was a hand drawing with all the important lines and their names. On the other side was your "prediction". Some of my class fellows tried it, I was curious enough to try it too. My card said that I would get things most people wish to have and then loose it all quickly as well. It made me sad, but at home my parents said it was haram and false and I shouldn't believe in it.
I later read that sometimes when people try to predict your future, sometimes Shaytaan or evil djinn tell them a few true things which they overhear from angels, so that's why sometimes when someone predicts something, there are some true facts. And of course there are just lucky guesses those swindlers make.
Anyway, in my case, I really did get for some time many things which most people want in life. But I lost it all quickly. After so much trouble and anxiety, I got a life in which I could choose to live as I wanted, I had suddenly many friends, I thought they were true friends, I was happy. That's what I wanted, people around me who I thought liked me and cared about me and I lived alone and could do whatever I wanted. Soon those friends turned out to be mostly jealous women who were telling lies against me. The lies against me have persisted ever since. Also my own family members have been telling lies against me which most people believe. I lost respect of other people because of lies against me. I lost a few true friendships because of the lies other people and my own family members told against me. My future is destroyed because of lies which have been told against me.
So what was written on that card, strangely really did happen. I did have something most people want and it lasted only one or two years before it was all gone for ever. During many years, I didn't think about that prediction, I even threw that card away when I got home and forgot all about it. Until now. Strange. Scary how the prediction of just a machine reading lines in my hand really did come true! So weird, so unbelievable.
