Surah Fatiha is called as a mother of Quran-e-majeed. where as it also starts with a bismillah. only one surah in Quran that is Surah Tauba (which deals with Guzwa tabook) dont have bismillah. in there.

so after surah Fateha u have to say bismillah (i believe not starting from azubillah. just starting it from Bismillah...raheem) n then an other surah. usually last ten asked to recite there .
Im not techincally trained in the correct names for the differentparts of namaz.
I know what bismiilah is, i always refer to Surah Fateha as Bismillah.

You can offer Qaza namaaz, though. People who perform Qazza-e-Umaree perform Asr Qazaa of past after Asr Fard of that day.

^^ Zobia, I dont think that Captain1 was saying that you are making it up. He said that according to Hanafi Fiqh, there is no Sunna b/w Asr and Maghrib Farz.

Some group of, either Maliki's or Salafi's, however performed 2 rakaats. I've been to a Mosque in Seattle area, run by Somalians and they perform 2 rakkats before Maghrib Farz

hmm...actually i didnt go to some madrassa. it was a private skool

n about hanbali, hanfi, shafi sects I HAVE NO CLUE that wat sect i belong to. (well i never will to find out, in fact i dont think its a proper thing to have differenciation with us, muslim brother n sisters)

only thing dat matters to me is that i know i am muslim n as muslims i got gift from ALLAH SWT in a shape of Namaz. Namaz is a way dats gives assurance/guaranteed of Sawab. whereas in everyother deed their is a duality that whther ALLAH SWT is happy or unhappy. though intentions matters the most.

so the correct rakaats are 2,4,4,3,4

PS: Vittar is a dodgy subject though cuz its not not nafil and its not sunnat, but then its not farz either...so might as wel just do it to be on the safe side but I duno why it could not have been then just made a farz
      completely agree with fraudia here!!!

True! No sunna/nafil after asr and before magrib farz.

Correct! This is done only once at the very start of namaz, just after takbeer.

Not one person has brought up the different fiqhs and their take on what is sunnah/nafl prayers...that is probably where you saw the difference. Farz is the same all around. other fiqh/imams have used hadith/sunnah to come to a VERY valid conclusion that a certain number is fine or better...but they can be different and fine.

Technically sunnat ( as in namaz/salat ) is basically those nafal prayers which prophet :saw: reported to have read habitually. It is preffered to pray these nafal, but unlike farz prayers they are not compulsary.

^^ this is loosely what sunni believe.

Acording to shia belief Farz are the same as sunni folks. but there is no distinction/ categories of sunnat prayers. They are called nafals, and can be prayed with every numaz as much as one likes

this is all too confusing for me.............agay se bari mushkil se namaz ki rakats zubani ki n upar se ye dekh k dimaagh kharab ho gaya. On top of all this there isnt even a set time for maghrib where i live ek local masjid k imam ne calender diye n its saying 5-15am whereas a local tv channel is doing azaan aftr sehri at about 4-30am .......
      main kya karoun???
