Best explanation I have seen as to why it is bad for your health to eat pork.

The explanation was given by a Christian Preacher, Joel Osteen

but as a Muslim we have to obey the injunction of shariah.

Pork is haram and forbidden as the Quran says so we have to abstains from it irrespective of what science says. ( though in majority cases scientific research have proved and endorsed the injunctions of shariah).

my point is we shud go for research to find the rationale for injunctions but that wud has secondary importance. u have to abide by the shariah irrespective of what logic and science (coz logic and science has its own limitation).
If time is not real, then the dividing line between this world and eternity, between suffering and bliss, between good and evil, is also an illusion.

One matter to be kept in mind in this context is that in the very name of this animal, God has indicated the reason for the prohibition of its flesh. The Arabic word for swine is 'Khinzeer' which is a compound of 'Khanz' and 'Ara', which means: 'I see it very foul'. Thus the very name that God Almighty gave to this animal at the beginning points to its uncleanness. It is a curious coincidence that in Hindi this animal is called 'Suar', which is a compound of 'Su' and 'Ara'. This also means: 'I see it very foul'. It should not be a matter of surprise that the Arabic word 'Su' should have found its way into Hindi. 'Su' is an Arabic word and its equivalent in Hindi is bad. This animal is also called bad in Hindi. There is no doubt that at the time when Arabic was the universal language this animal was known in this country by an Arabic name which was synonymous with 'Khinzeer', and so it has continued to this day. It is possible that in Sanskrit this word might have undergone some transformation, but the true word is 'Khinzeer' which proclaims its own meaning. It is not necessary to enter into a detailed exposition of the foulness of this animal. Everyone knows that it eats filth and is utterly shameless. Thus the reason for the prohibition of its flesh is obvious, as by the law of nature its flesh would have a foul effect on the body and the soul of one who eats it.
There can be no doubt that the flesh of such a foul animal would also be foul.

Even in pre-Islamic times, Greek physicians had opined that the flesh of this animal particularly damages the faculty of modesty and fosters shamelessness. The eating of carrion is also prohibited in Islamic law for the same reason; that is to say, it affects the moral qualities adversely and is also harmful to physical health.

On the particular emboldened part. This is one of the most common line of reasoning found among religionist (I don't mean the use of terminology in a derogatory manner), everyone here knows well about me, I would never heap any slander or insult on my brothers/sisters in faith.

What I am curious about is how do we qualify this reasoning. How are the qualities of a person connected with the food he consumes. How does a biological transformation come about in a pork eating American or whatever nationality after converting to muslim so suddenly so that he starts shunning all shame.

As predicted. God himself said: for some even the word of God would not be sufficient.

      Anyways...

Our friend Kchughtai have given us some good hints.

whosoever believes the Holy Quran to be the final word of Allah should obey Allah's command. It's meat is forbidden to eat. Hence, its forbidden. There should be no questions asked as to why it is so.

When Allah commands the believers to stay away from any kind of alcohol, believers believe in it,regardless of knowing why it is forbidden... recent studies have shown that if your drink red wine, it will help you coop with heart diseases. One must also keep into consideration that whatsoever Allah prohibits for his creation is for the best of their own interest. One shouldnt really ask for its advantages or disadvantages.
