Ten of the companions are claimed to have been promised Paradise during their lives. They are:
1) Abu Bakr
2) Omar
3) Uthman
4) Ali
5) Talha
6) al-Zubair
7) Saad bin Abi Waqqass
8) Saeed bin Zaid
9) Abdulrahman bin `Awf and
10) Abu `Ubaida binal-Jarrah
I really don't know where to look for the related hadith, can anyone dig up sources for it? How authentic is this hadith? I doubt very much if the shia's accept this as a hadith to begin with. Can someone be kind and put up the hadith and it's source?

Just think FF:
How Authentic this hadith is?
The narrator of this hadith is so unjust that he/she ommited the names of the sardar of jawanan e jannat Imam Hassan a.s and Imam Husain a.s. from it.

^ maybe cuz this hadith pertains to those who were promised the heaven during their lives for their services to islam ... Hussain r.a. was just a child when prophet :saw: passed away.

there r others who have been given the glad tidings of entering paradise in their lifetime, but these r the ppl who were given the news in a group....
and it doesnt mean that these r the only 10 who will enter paradise....
the hadith is mutafiq alayhi (agreed as authentic by all scholars)....Both Halal & Haram r evident but between them r doubtful things, most ppl have no knowledge about them. So whoever saves himself from suspicious things saves his religion & honor, & whoever indulges in suspicious things indulges in Haram.
- Mar 4th, 2004, 03:25 PM #5As far as I understand, Femme Fatale requested the readers to post the actual hadith with the source. If you have it, will you be so kind as to post it here?Originally posted by armughal:

Thanks. :-)

Until armughal gives you some Sunni websites you can count the material from Shia site and their research on this hadith. [No comments; everything is given there about this hadith.] If Administrator like to close this thread, he can, before the thread enter into sectarian discussion.Originally posted by Femme Fatale:

A Sahîh hadîth related by Abû Dâwûd, al-Tirmidhî, Ibn Majah & Ahmad, and well-known amongst the people. The fullest narration is, "Abû Bakr will be in the Garden; cUmar will be in the Garden; cUthmân will be in the Garden; cAlî will be in the Garden; Talhah will be in the Garden; al-Zubair will be in the Garden; cAbd al-Rahmân b. 'Auf will be in the Garden; Sa'd b. Abî Waqqas will be in the Garden; Sacîd b. Zaid will be in the Garden; Abû 'Ubaidah b. al-Jarrah will be in the Garden."

Correction here: this is not mutafiq alayhi.the hadith is mutafiq alayhi (agreed as authentic by all scholars)....
I think there is a typo in the list of the names. I think Hazrat Ali a.s name was just added by mistake. This name doesn't fit with other names in the list.
The tittle of "Leader of all the youths in paradise" was given to Hasnain a.s by the Prophet pbuh. Rasool pbuh knew what services to islam they were going to do.maybe cuz this hadith pertains to those who were promised the heaven during their lives for their services to islam ... Hussain r.a. was just a child when prophet passed away.

This topic is to discuss "ashra mubashra". The hadith, atleast for those who consider it authentic, shows that these ten people were mentioned in this hadith at one place.
It does not mean there is NO ONE else who was given a similar glad tiding at other times.
Hazrat Imam Hassan
and Hussain
and also Hazrat Fatima
are all mentioned in other ahadith. I don't think anyone is disputing that, but that is not what is being discussed here. If you want to discuss the status of other people, why don't you open a new thread and provide your knowledge?

Faisal you can go ahead and close the thread. I see some people jumping in and getting defensive for no reason at all even though they weren't even addressed in the question. They have a hard time staying out and a harder time participating. I'll search elsewhere.
Thank you.

Why dont you say that those people who were in between us and Prophets made an errr(can make an errr). Why are you denfending them. and in that defence destroying your own aaqied (belief).
This is a question.

WHAT about Hazrat Salman FArsi?
- Mar 5th, 2004, 09:20 AM #18
given that the majority if not all Sunni compilers of hadith were of Persian origin you wouldn't find anything bad about Salman Farsi.. in fact there will be hadiths which elevate his status to extremes..
I'm unaware about Shia compilers but I suspect they have their share of Persian tales too.JaddoN kaddya jaloos ghareeba tay shehr ich choatalee lug gayee
