Pray to Allah & recite all the sorraz that you can think of. Specially Last two Surrah of Quraan & Ayatul'Kursi.

They say - if you read 'charoon kul' before going to bed. God will protect you from harm until morning.

    Aytal-kursi is very powerful.
If you can't receite any of this (for any reason) - last but not least 'Pehla Kalma' will help you tremendously.

As it says in Quran that "Jinns are unable to physically harm (unless permitted by Allah s.w.t)" (will try to locate the verse). However Jinns can influence you to do sin(s) (if you have weak faith)

one more thing: I find it weird and disturbing when Muslims fear other beings rather than Allah.

plz provide the verse, i dont recall any such verse in the Quran....
u shud be careful when attributing something to Quran or Hadith....
Both Halal & Haram r evident but between them r doubtful things, most ppl have no knowledge about them. So whoever saves himself from suspicious things saves his religion & honor, & whoever indulges in suspicious things indulges in Haram.

Verily! He has no power over those who believe and put their trust only in their Lord (Allâh).
His power is only over those who obey and follow him (Satan), and those who join partners with Him (Allâh) [i.e. those who are Mushrikűn - polytheists - see Verse 6:121].

    The Noble Qur'an - Al-Jinn 72: 6-7
    6. 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief.

    The Noble Qur'an - Al-An'aam 6:128
And on the Day when He will gather them (all) together (and say): "O you assembly of jinns! Many did you mislead of men, and their Auliyâ' (friends and helpers, etc.) amongst men will say: "Our Lord! We benefited one from the other, but now we have reached our appointed term which You did appoint for us." He will say: "The Fire be your dwelling*place, you will dwell therein forever, except as Allâh may will. Certainly your Lord is All*Wise, All*Knowing."

I disagree that Jinns posses people (if faith <= possession level); if that were the case

we would certainly see most people possessed as we know that most people and Jinns are transgressors. However, Jinns can influence.

    The Noble Qur'an - Huud 11:119
Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy (the follower of truth - Islâmic Monotheism) and for that did He create them. And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled (i.e. His Saying): "Surely, I shall fill Hell with jinns and men all together."

In addtition to above, i will like to state that Jinns cannot be controlled by human, even though we are the best of HIS creation.

Allah made all the jinn subservient to the Prophet Sulaimaan (Solomon), a gift from Allah, swt, that will never be granted to another after him.
    The Noble Qur'an - Saad 38:35-39
    35. He said: "My Lord! Forgive me, and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me: Verily, You are the Bestower."
    36. So, We subjected to him the wind, it blew gently to his order whithersoever he willed,
    37. And also the Shayâtin (devils) from the jinns (including) every kind of builder and diver,
    38. And also others bound in fetters.
    39. [Saying of Allâh to Sulaimân (Solomon)]: "This is Our gift, so spend you or withhold, no account will be asked."

Please keep this in mind: Satan is a Jinn

you are still far away from the first claim: "cannot harm physically"

Please re-read the whole article. I have pasted below a part of it

1- When we read 15:42 and 17:65 we find God telling Satan that he does not have "sultan"on the believers. So what exactly is the meaning of the word "sultan"?

If we look up the word "sultan"in the dictionary we find that it means Power, authority ... and so on.

It is rational to conclude that for the devil to be able to inflict physical harm, pain or hardship on the believers the devil must first have power over them. However, if he has no power over them (15:42, 17:65) then he cannot harm them. So what exactly is the devil able to do to the believers?

2- When we read 14:22 we see the devil saying (on Judgement day) that he had no "sultan"(authority) over the believers, then he says that the ONLY thing he did was "da'aawtakum"(inticed you) .... this is the only thing that the devil is able to to do to the humans "Yuwaswis" (as in 20:120) which means to intice by whispering.

The devil has no power over the believers, he cannot force them to do anything, he can only intice and invite the human to sin.

But what about all the stories of possessions and exorcisms. That is physical harm isn't it?

I know this is my total kafir approach, but there is always the question, if evil powers have no powers over believers, why the prophet SAW had to be cured with the two Quls.
