Can someone settle an argument between me and my friend. She used to be married to a muslim and she converted and she s now divorced but still a muslim. She was telling me about how she used to be about to pray and her husband used to say you cant pray like that take your make up off first. There was nobody else in the house except her husband so why should she not be able to pray while wearing makeup. Is there actually anything that says we must remove all makeup before praying. Obviously for wuzu yes but I would have thought it was OK to pray with it on.
Also I was invited to a Quran reading once and one of the ladies there was wearing nail polish. Some of the other ladies asked her is that allowed? and she said yes cos she done her wuzu at home and then put the nail polish on so her wuzu would be valid and there is no restriction on actually wearing the nail polish. That made sense to me.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

putting on nail polish or makeup after doing wuzu will not break the wuzu.
The grass ain't always greener on the other side, it's green where you water it.

look if u put make up or anything after wudu it is ok to pray with it
didnt sahabas and sahabias prayed with kohl in their eyes?
so it was make up of that time
so wat if we r using modern versions of make up as lipsticks and stuff
so it is ok to pray with make up on

Peace sister
Perhaps I could add that it is mustahab to 'look good' for prayer because we a presenting ourselves before our Lord.
I do mean 'look good' though not 'slutty'
The rest is between your intention and Allah (SWT).The Prophet(SAW) said:
"I am leaving you two things and you will never go astray as long as you cling to them -- they are the Book of Allah and my Sunnah." [Reported by Al- Haakim - Sahih].

Just wanted to add a few things here.
The reason you can't do wudu while having nail polish on your nails is plain an simple. With nail polish on, the water cannot reach your nails. Its mechanical blockage.
Having said that, if you put on nail polish after the wudu, it doesn't nullify your wudu and you can pray if your nail polish (or any other make up for that matter) doesn't contain anything alcoholic or ingrediants that are prohibited in Islam. I hope this helps. You have the right to remain silent, anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

ummm........................i dont thinknalcohol is a problem or it???
cuz i think even if things have alcohol in them it evaporates right after it comes in contact with air

and i dont think make up has alcohol
even if it has alcohol but its not the kind that is used for drinking

i have a question. so you do ur wudu and put nail polish on, then pray. What happens the next time u have to pray? You broke ur wudu so now what? the nail polish comes off and then you do wudu?

It is absolutely alright to wear makeup and nalipolish after Wudhu is complete. Yes, prayers can be performed while wearing makeup and nailpolish.
Let's say your wudhu breaks after one salat, then it is better to remove the makeup and nailpolish to do the wudhu because water needs to reach your eyelashes, and if you have mascara on then that will not be possible. Likewise, if you have nail polish on, water will not be able to clean the nails.Don't be hurtin' and hatin' cuz my phone is so cool!

i have heard that u cant wear anything wich covers your skin....
for example...if u do wuzu with mascara ,,,..mascara covers the eyelashes completely so they wont get wet...
but if u got cream...the water goes through the cream..so the wuzu is jaiz then...
so nailpolish..eyeliner and mascara etc. should be haram i guess...
this is what I have heard...now Allah knows best!
