yup lahore...my mamu is a professor her in the US ... and he will be giving the exams early or let another teacher handle the finals. ask ur brothers and cousins to try to take the finals early or something...prof. are usually pretty ok with that.
I knw how crazy it around that time...but my mom doesn't want the weddig in muharram.

where is ur wedding taking place??

dont worry about it, people do have shaadis after the first ten days, and I'm sure that will especially be the case with Muharram falling smack dab in the middle of December this year. oractices vary from family to family, but I heard that as long as you don't have a wedding within the first ten days, its ok.

um Rabia im not sure that can happen.. i asked them but both had issues.. my wedding is probably going to be somewhere outside.. i had always wanted it in tents which is why i didnt want to have a summer wedding even though my fiance was really pushing for it. We havent really decided the venue as such. but some place which can accomodate 500 - 600 people. Where's yours?
yeah i've attended some muharram weddings myself but mine will most likely be the 12 and 13th which is right after. but i guess i should be ok..

Chaleeswan, Teeja, Dooja etc. are all BIDDATS and have nothing to do with Islam.

As a Muslim I will always respect Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and his AAL but Waqiya-e-Karbala was all about politics 'KURSI KI JANG', it had nothing to do with Islam.

I got married in Muharram. My nikah actually took place within the first 3 days of Muharram. There's no restriction of having marriages in the month or on any particular days of the month.

      Really?

Just as a matter of useful information, tu phir how come Muhammad PBUH, the last Rasool e Khuda, acknowledged others that Hassan and Hussain are the leaders of the young in Heavens ??

Sure, but my wedding that happened to be in Muharram has nothing to do with me being a Terrible Guy or vice versa.

there is absolutly NOTHING wrong with anyone being / getting narried in Muharram ..islamically .. its just that ppl dunt do it cos outa respect for the incidents that occured .. but it also dunt mean k ppl dunt care .. they care .. and like in your case .. when it comes to majboori .. there isnt anything wrong with it ..

I even know k one of my uncle got married in muharram too ..and my father and Grandfather - being from a Religious family and also scholars .. wudnt have done it if they believed it to be wrong.

Theres not only nothing wrong in getting married in Muharram, but there is also more ajar (sawab for desis).

Muharram is one of the blessed months hence any good deed done in Muharram is bound to bring more blessings and ajar than done in any month.

On the other hand..if you're one of those guys who likes to play it safe and are getting married in Pakistan/Iran/Iraq...you'd want to think twice. Dont want a shia gang raid your wedding tent on the main night.

Of course it is not forbidden, because Kerbala took place way after the Prophet (saw) death, however, for those who have love and respect for the grandson of the Prophet (saw) and the Ahlul Bayt, getting married in these month is inconcievable, ususally because people are often occupied with mourning. Also historically, muharram was a period of celebration soon after the Imam (as)'s death, for yazid and his men, and inorder to avoid the sunnah of yazidiyyat, celeberations are not really recommended during this period.
