If I converted to Hinduism, can I choose to be a Brahmin?

Reason why I ask this is that someone told me that no non-Brahmin Hindu can become one in their current life, they have to die 3 times in order to become a Brahmin.

      Yemeen,
A person is a brahmin by his actions, not by his birth. But, unfortunately in current day, that doesnt matter. Only the birth decides what caste you belong. However, I have seen many people converting to Brahmin voluntarily or by marriage to another Brahmin.
Initially, a person became a Brahmin on the basis of his knowledge of the Vedas. In time, the Brahmins began interpreting laws to their own advantage to maintain their privileges. And because of this unassailable social and moral authority, they were unchecked. Today most Brahmins are engaged in other secular activities. However, only a qualified Brahmin can conduct religious ceremonies. These professional priests are now called Pandit, Bhatt or Shastri.

For more revelations, I advise you to read the Ultimate source, "The Bhagavat Gita"

A brahmin is a person who has made the rules in india to favor himself
a brahmin belives he is born to rule and a harijan is born to clean his toilets and harijan woman are for his pleasures
the brahmins have written the holy scriptures which favor them
      according to ramayan .
ravan the demon was a brahmin
and when hndu god ram who was a kshatriya
kills ravan . ram had to under go penance for murdering a brahman
can you imagine? killing a demon who is a evil man and doing penance? such is the brahmin dominance

      Kabir,

I would like to ask you specifically:-

      1. Have you ever met any person (Brahmin) saying that he is born to rule and he wants to enjoy the harijan females ? (No media Reports, I want your experience).

      2. Do you know who wrote Ramayana ? Do you know to what caste/Tribe he belonged???

      3. Can you check the criminal details like rapes/murders committed by Brahmins?

I agree Brahmins had a powerful hold on the society many decades ago and even today they are powerful in villages, but atleast I have not met any brahmin who has the above thoughts as you mentioned. I am sorry that you have such pre-judicied opinion about Brahmins.

The caste system was created with a specific purpose relevant to those times. Unfortunately some vested parties misused it and gave a bad name to Hinduism

1.iam talking about facts and figures
most of the prime ministers and chief ministers in india have been brahmins in attal is a brahmin of high order. and brahmins are the most litreate community and they have thier absolute dominance over all institutions they dont have to proclaim anything

2.i know valmiki wrote ramayan and he was a tribal but there are other versions have ramayan tulsidas etc where were over the years which shows brahmins as superior

      3. just go the villages in up and get the answer AND whats devdasi syestem? just go maharashtra karnataka border and see how the young girls are first made to offer thier virginity to the village priest
