" On no soul does Allah place a burden greater than it can bear. it gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns........" 2:286 (Al-Baqara)
The intention of this thread is obviously not to belittle any portion of the Qur'an by emphasizing on particular ayat, but to get an idea of how certain verses have had great impact on guppies. This particular verse, when i read it, left me teary-eyed.
A man is like a wild orchid--free and exotic, and makes a great conversationalist and friend; but, when you pluck one and bring it home, it withers and dies. --dope
at one hand Surah AL Fatiha tells me how we should ask things from ALLAH:swt: and it gives us news for the two great Muslim Ummah of the past, present day Jews and Christians, and what they became; it teaches me not to become like them. On the other hand Surah Baqarah at it start rightaway defines for me that faith is not faith unless it's blind... Faith in the hidden that is...
Next time, Surah Aal-e-Imran further teaches me the histroy of previous Muslim Ummah and how they were doomed from the chosen one for they used to practice the BOOK in parts - the parts they liked but rejected the rest, and how they used to disobey their prophets and used to kill them, interpreting the divine text on their own... The same surah tells me that Muslims are only best when they call others to enjoin good and fight against the evil from within to outside...
then there are surahs that leave impact on me so that I know what to do in life in certain situations for instance Surah Nissa..
I love Surah Tauba but I think I feel more scared of it than the love of Divine music in it....
Surah Rehman - Uroos ul Quran - was the first biggest surah that I memorized (The most of it)... I love it's recitation in the voice of Shaikh Qari Abdul Basit Abdul Samad and love the very fact that how this surah addresses both Humans and Jinns at the same time.
Surah Waqiah is the seocond Surah which I love to hear it in Qari Abdul Basit's voice. Infact, I memorized it's first Rukoo after keep hearing it in his voice.
Surah Yaseen... the heart of Quran is the loveliest surah of all. It's description of how the righteous will meet ALLAH and how the peace from ALLAH be given to them, brings tears if one knows what each word means in its very context...
Surah Ghashiya.. I love reciting it myself while I am driving on a 100 Mile journey twice a week to work...
The whole last Juz of Quran is amazing and I can't even dare to compare any of it anyway....
every surah is so much powerful that you can not simply make selection out of them.... Every Surah of the last Juz is a history of an event in itself...
If Allah findeth any good in your hearts, He will give you something better than what has been taken from you, and He will forgive you: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
O Englightened dog, come and stay with me for a while.

What r u...stupid or something. It doesn't say that anywhere!
------------------------------------------------------ Rightousness of the Faith...
Ghazi Sultan Salah-ud-Din Ayoobi Bhai jaan... it does say it in the opening ayaahs of Surah At Tauba ... The only thing is that he even does not know what is the context .. He is only feared of getting slayed for he is an idolator that is, a hindu for that matter.
If you are keen to know the context then know that those ayaahs were sent down after the idolators of Makkah broke the treaty of Hudaiybiya and were waging wars against Muslims. The ayaahs came down against those Terrorists in that society at that time.

I'am sorry u r right, but he did take it out of context. It is ok he will get whats coming to him on the Day of Judgement when he has to face Allah :swt:

Just a word of caution. I understand your sentiments but we can not and should not start saying that what one will get on the day of judgement for all we know is that as long as person is alive, he/she is a potential muslim. I or you do not know if that person reverts to Islam and becomes a better Muslim than us. Right?

I find english translation very hollow, firstly because it is a foreign language and secondly translations are quite old ...
Usually most of us do not ponder over the verses ( me too ). But some verses are so captivating and powerful that they make your heart skip one or two beats...
Thats what happend when I can across this chapter..

Sura Taqweer verse number 7, 8. The address is so heart wrenching that I can not imagine how people of that time would have responded to this.
Quote:
At-Takwir (The Overthrowing) (81) - Roukh 1
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up;
{1} When the stars fall, losing their lustre;
{2} When the mountains vanish (like a mirage);
{3} When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended;
{4} When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations);
{5} When the oceans boil over with a swell;
{6} When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); {7}And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked {8} For what sin she was slain,
{9} When the scrolls are laid open;
{10} When the world on High is unveiled;
{11} When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat;
{12} And when the Garden is brought near;-
{13} (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward.
{14} So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede,
{15} Go straight, or hide; {16} And the Night as it dissipates;
{17} And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;-
{18} Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger,
{19} Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne,
{20} With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust.
{21} And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed;
{22} And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon.
{23} Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen.
{24} Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed.
{25} When whither go ye?
{26} Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds:
{27} (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight:
{28} But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds.
though, the translation can not explain the acrimony for that action, contained in the verse. Still one can imagine how some listener who had performed the grevous act in the past, would have reacted at that time...
And guard yourselves against a day in which you will be brought back to Allah. Then every soul will be paid in full that which it had earned, and they will not be wronged. 2:281
It is reported to be the last verse to be revealed
Al-Qur'an: 12:53. "Nor do I absolve my own self (of blame): the (human) soul is certainly prone to evil, unless my Lord do bestow His Mercy: but surely my Lord is Oft- forgiving, Most Merciful."
I find great relief in this verse. I keep reminding myself of this verse so that I don't myself as being better than anyone. This is the Prophet Joseph (pbuh) whom Muhammad (pbuh) declared the most noble of all Prophets (pbut) in terms of lineage. If he is not safe from Nafs-al-Ammaara, who are we?
Favorite Surah: Al-Waqi'ah.
I don't even have to say why. If someone does not fall in love with it after reading it once, they have no heart.

I'm half done with the second surah this week Can't wait to read the rest

Beautiful choice...
It is said, never ask Allah :swt: for justice but always ask for mercy...Because if justice was served, well, your sins are known better to Him than to yourself...Would you like justice then?
So His Mercy and Forgiveness it is that shelters us, in this life and the next...

James Bhand: Barbie - your avatars are so childish ...grow up--- look at my avatar-its so grownup and matchure
Allah will not place a burden on you more than you can actually bear.
when the going gets tough..i read it....and then i reread it...and then i read it again....it gives me so much comfort.
You guys are doing great ma'shallah. now when i dont have the Holy Qu'ran by my side and am at work , i will browse this thread.
Here: "who say, when afflicted with calamity," To Allah we belong, and to him is our return. They are those on whom (descend) blessings from Allah, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance." (2: 156,157)
"like the Evil One , when he says to man," Deny Allah." But when (man) denies Allah, (the Evil One) says," I am free of you. I do fear Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.""(59:16)
