Why is it used whenever a person wants to mention an illiterate person (or a self claimed Imam) who is passing religious judgment on people without much logical reasoning ? There are many good religious people whom people have been referring to as Mullah, Molvi, Maulana...etc. in the past. Considering the fact that "Mullah" used to be part of the name of a lot of saints in the past, could we use some other term for extremist unreasonable people who try to deceive people in the name of ISLAM, even if they themselves add a tag of "Mullah" to their name ? (Which is usually not the case)

Most of the politicians in Pakistan are corrupt, so does that mean whenever a person becomes corrupt we start calling him a "Politician" ?

There are extremist unreasonable religious people in every religion. Does anyone know what terms are used for them by the people of respective religions, like in Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism...etc.

good question , sadly calling someone "mullah" is the bad word nothing else these days

there is already a term for these people the khawarij , and that does not translate into extremists but as deviants

if i am qualified enough i would love to have the name Mullah before mine...."Mullah Zulfiqar" , that sounds good

President George Bush is the NUMBER 1 terrorist of the world. Does that give us a right to use the term President of USA when we mention about a terrorist.

There is not one single word in dictionary which can do justice with the concept of Mullah.
