She appeared at my door and started telling me about the family values and that 5 chapters(Exodus, Deuetronomy etc) of Bible by Moses(As) are written in the Holy Quran. I asked her to show me where and she very quickly showed me a verse in Dueteronomy :

"You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up".

And she said that same verse even 5 chapters are in the Quran written by Moses(As) and thus you should believe in Quran and not Bible.

Now, I know that very few verses of Bible are similar to Quran's but the whole five chapters are not there in Quran. I'm quite annoyed that she lied and I couldn't tell her off because my kids were interrupting.

Please provide your input so I can tackle her wisely next time she comes.

This is your chance to, if you have time, create dialogue with someone from another faith. This is also your chance to let someone from another faith know that you as a muslim are welcoming and receptive and not easily annoyed. The next time she comes invite her in for a cup of tea. My dad, though not religious at all, invited a couple of JW's in and offered them cold drinks and got ready for a two hour discussion. They obviously were on a schedule and had other fish to fry so they cut the conversation short and left

When you do converse with her do not make up answers on the spot. Take whatever points she has to give and tell her you will do your research and then respond to her. This is the sunnah of the Prophet Mohammad SAW, i.e. whenever someone would ask him a question he didn't know the answer to he told them he will find out and get back to them.

Another thing you can do is throw them off their track. A JW once came and sat next to me on the bus, a young 17 year old boy. You could tell he was a fresh recruit and had absolutely know idea about anything apart from what he was preaching. So what i did instead was started asking him questions like why isnt the bible in hebrew, who delivered the messages of God to your latter saints, what is your opinion of the previous prophets like Moses (AS), Dawood (AS), Isaac (AS) etc etc. Once they see you have more knowledge than their limited preacher lines they will run for it In this case the poor white boy got stuck answering my questions for 30 minutes. Whats worse, an arabic guy was listening in on our conversation and soon as i got off my stop that arab started talking to the JW as if he was continuing on my conversation. It was evident from the JW's face he was not at all pleased

bechara.

I'll invite her next time, I was quite busy with kids at that time so couldn't ask her to come inside.

That's quite true actually, I've heard so many people say this about them. I wonder how many Jahova Witnesses convert to other religion, may be very few.

You will be amazed at the number of people converting to christianity, islam and other religions such as JW etc. This is a materialistic society and many people end up finding themselves empty and hollow from inside longing for some spirituality. JW's are doing the right thing going door to door. Their means of preaching might not be perfect but even if they get one convert out of a thousand its a win for them.

whenever someone preaches to you hes doing a kindness to you even if it isnt one from your perspective. i like people who go door to door or hand pamphlets even though routinely they make bad arguments or the pamphlets sprout absolute nonsense. iraday naik hain.

I don't mind their way of preaching but I was annoyed that she lied to me by saying that Quran has five chapters of Bible and she couldn't even show me one chapter which is taken from Bible.

My Question to all(I should be asking this to a Jahova witness really)
Why would they wanna turn a muslim into Jahova witness?

Because they think they are better. I don't think there is anything wrong what they are trying to do. As long as you have time, listen to them. Otherwise politely apologize. :-)

It gives a chance to learn something different. No need to argue with them or anyone who comes at your door to preach.

Cool

Get a little; give a little.

Listen to her, or whoever comes next. Then hand 'em a copy of Quran with translation If you have an extra one. If they come to believe even in a single verse from it, you've initiated the spread of Islam by teaching them.

Like br. Ravage, if they're out there going door to door then obviously they fear and have the love of God (even if not the in same definition as us, or a way in which Muslim do). Any true God-Fearing person would want to listen to word of God. (Ideally anyways)

The thing about Jehovah's Witnesses is that they're pretty stuck on what they have to tell you, but not very enthusiastic on the listening part. And the next time it might not even be the same woman, so you won't be able to carry on from the previous conversation.

Dear sis this is a wonderful opportunity to spread the light of Islam.

We are the ambassadors of Islam. Da'wah (invitation) is our responsibility, become a Da'ee (inviter), Dr Zakir Naik of the Islam Research Foundation has some wonderful Da'wah material, do one of his courses. You don't have to belong to any particular sect or agree with all his views but still benefit from his Da'wah material and utilise his answers.

It's not just enough to know how to practice Islam anymore, especially for us Muslims in the West, we need to know how to defend it and spread the light. Comparative religion/ideology is absoloutley neccesary. I think every Islamic School or Mosque Class should offer these courses along with trdaitional Quran/Ahadith courses.

I agree with brother Cheegum, we had some old JW ladies preaching in our neighbourhood and my mom would invite them in, brew them some tea and homemade cookies whilst I preached Islam to them. I was only young, I'd get my Islamic coloring book out and show them pictures of the Kaabah telling them how Abraham built it for the worship of the One Jewish/Christian/Muslim God Allaah/Alaha/Elohim....

...They seemed impressed, they'd leave their colorful books with me and I'd bring Islamic leaflets for them from the Mosque about "The Quran & The Bible" and "The Quran & Modern Science", making them promise they'd read my leaflets and I'll read theirs. We became good friends.

Jehovah's Witnesses only believe in One God who they call Jehovah (one of the Biblical terms for Allaah/Elohim), they reject the trinity, they do not believe Jesus was a god or a part of God, like us they believe he was a Prophet and a Messiah/Christ...

...But they also believe he was God's "son" in the sense that according to their belief God created him directly as the first creation whereas He created the rest of creation through Jesus (I guess similar to the way Allaah uses angels to do things in our religion).

We have them ring our bell periodically.

The thing is, they have a lot to tell you but they can't actually debate, so don't get sidetracked by their claims. They work on the assumption that you don't know your religion. When they find out that you do, they get scared.

It would be worth having a decent degree of knowledge about JW and the bible, so you know when they are making things up.

My brother always invites them in. He then barely let's them talk and instead talks about Islam. He reads verses from the Quran to them. After that, they have very little to say.

I also agree with this, it is important not to overlook as I believe you home school your children?
