Living in Riyadh for 1.5 year. Nothing special only the traffic is horrible

Been to Riyadh and Jeddah a couple of times for business-related travel. It's ok to be there for a couple of days and in the case of Jeddah the closeness to Makkah is obviously a great plus.

But to be very honest: I am glad I don't live there.

i visited, or rather passed by for 1 day on our way back from Hajj. Stayed at some hotel practically across the street from a huge outlet shopping center with like name brand stores.

Hahaha. Good one.

K337, I know that you like Saudi Arabia very much, because you've spent most of your life there and probably have a large network of friends and relatives there. But if you hardly know anyone there, then you have to admit it is quite dull and boring place. There's not really a lot to do.

Daring

I went to Riyadh few months ago and stayed for 4 days. Traffic is horrible and drivers the worst i have seen anywhere in the world. However, it does have many things to offer to a visitor, there are very cheap furnished apartments of good quality, cheaper than any place been to. There are lots of fun-parks of kids, plenty of malls like dubai and goods are cheaper.

whenever I went on my own Ive had bad experiences. When I went with my family, the immigration officer was checking out the goris (we were coming from london) and forgot to stamp my passport, and when we were going back it caused a delay. To top it off, I have a name which causes alot of ignoramas to automatically and wrongly assume I am a 'shia'. Riyadh was a huge turn off too. The only city I enjoyed over there was Makkah.

I think any place without a network of friends & relatives would be boring.
I have been to jeddah & riyadh a few times but only for a few days.
Before I did not like either place much but in the recent months I have developed a liking towards Jeddah & I like Riyadh too.
