I don't know if many people are aware of this initiative or not so I'll explain it a bit in this thread, because it really is a huge step forward for Pakistan.

The PFSA project is being undertaken by the Home Department for the establishment of a modern and unified Forensic Science Agency in Punjab. The overall purpose of this project is to establish an international standard, well quipped, state of the art , full service forensic science laboratory at Lahore. On its operation, the laboratory will support criminal investigations by providing forensic analysis. It will also assist the legal matters of interest. Punjab Forensic Science Agency will offer complete services in the field of forensic science, including:

    Toxicology

    Narcotics

    DNA& Serology

Fire Arms & Tool - marks

    Questioned Documents

    Latent Fingerprints

    Pathology

    Forensic Photography

    Trace Chemistry

    Crime Scene Specialist

    Death Scene Investigation

    Computer Forensic

    Polygraph

    Audiovisual

They have an in-house training facility that would provide an opportunity to judicial officers, lawyers, doctors, investigators, and persons involved in law enforcement to understand forensics and play their role in building positive image of the country. Moreover, they are also planning on starting Pakistan's first ever forensic science institute. Conviction rates are proven to be excellent with the proper implementation of forensic sciences and it can also decrease the rate of wrongful convictions.

This project is still ongoing, they only finished the recruitment process early this year but there ought to some positions still available. Now is a good time to send out your job applications to PFSA if you are a qualified scientist and if you would like to work for the agency. Pakistan lacks fully qualified forensic scientists at the moment and, if you look at PFSA's job descriptions, they are hiring scientists from a variety of backgrounds who will then be trained in forensic sciences. Here's their website if you're looking for more info or if you would like to send out job applications:

I would have loved to serve in PFSA if I wasn't going ahead with research.

^ I would love to. They've hired an American Pakistani consultant Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Tahir to help them set up the training procedures, SOPs etc because there really isn't anyone in Pakistan who knows a whole lot about forensics. It would be great to be a part of this project and help in any way you can.

^ I have given the website above. Please visit that for further information. The best thing to do would be to call them and speak to them. When vacancies arise, they list them on the website and they're not hiring right now. But I would still call them and speak to them.

Visit their careers section http://www.pfsa.gop.pk/PFSA%20Careers.html and have a look at the job descriptions which will give you an idea of what are the requirements for different roles. If you want to be a lab technician in the toxicology & narcotics department, you will need at least a bachelors degree in a science related discipline. http://www.pfsa.gop.pk/Jobs/pdf/Lab%20Technicians.pdf

Candidates have to go through a written test and only the high scoring ones are called for interviews. http://www.pfsa.gop.pk/Eligible%20Candidate.html

Hmm this is really a huge step forward. In Pakistan Forensic sciences is now being taught at some major universities, this will help the young graduates learn and develop their skills more.

    ^ Wow, impressive!

    They will definitely consider you.

Project Director's contact is at the bottom of this ad: http://dailyjobads.com/wp-content/up...ncy-Lahore.jpg

I think his name is Syed Khalid Gardezi http://www.careersinpk.com/wp-conten...ortunities.jpg

I don't think you can contact CM Shahbaz Sharif directly, you'll have to go through his secretaries. Contacts on the official website of Punjab government: http://pportal.punjab.gov.pk/portal/...LvpAe?nav=left

And I don't have Dr. Ashraf Tahir's contact details.
