Please post details of a bird/birds you can spot except those common birds like pigeons and crows etc.

I saw two Herons on different wetland areas while we were driving past a village in Berkshire, it was huge and still and this is what he looked like. pic taken from web.

those green birds in flocks are non other than Ring-necked Parakeets which are very common in pakistan!

Theres a large population in London now because of releases, escapees.

Where in london do you see them?

Hareem thats a Grey Heron in the first photo and the second bird is a Jay, part of the Crow family.
Grey herons are quite common in Pakistan too. Jays are quite secretive - they are very beautiful.

I knew those green birds might be some kind of parrots but wasn't sure.


Few weeks ago I saw Blackcap in my garden, it didn't stay for long.




It is very hard for me to distinguish a female blackcap from a house sparrow but I think I did see her with this male blackcap.

Blackcaps don't stay in Britain for winter except few of them.

Amazing....your right about Blackcaps.....not many stay for winter...the only time i ever saw a blackcap was when i was driving fast upa country lane and then suddenly something hit my window and i then i braked....i checked in the wing mirror and saw that something was moving on the ground in fact spinning..i got out and saw it was a bird and picked it up and to my horror it was a male blackcap....it was the first time i have seen a blackcap and it was almost half dead....i picked it up and realise it could not stand or keep its eyes open....i was really sad.....it slowly began to wake up...and i began to try and stretch its wings .......it hopped from my hand onto my shoulder...it did not want to leave me...i let it perch on a branch....still seemed a bit sleepy...eventually i think it flew off....

It's illegal in the UK to shoot or harm birds, destroy their nests and steal their eggs, you can get fined or prisoned. I wish these rules were in all the countries.

Its not illegal to destory all birds nests and eggs infact some birds such as crows, peigeons and gulls are considered pests and vermin so often destroyed.....

Saw this Robin sitting in hawthorne bush....the pic is not brilliant but here it is,

A dunnock's been visiting our garden for past few days, I saw a pair of long-tailed tits feeding on the suet but they were chased and driven away by blue-tits who are the regular visitors. I wish I could see them again, they're adorable.
