hi all,

does anybody know where i can read about the work of Dr. Abdul Salaam. I mean the technical details of his work in elementary and quantum physics which earned him the Nobel prize. All i know is that his work involved combining two of the natural forces (perhaps, not too sure). Wikipedia's article on him does not have this detail

thanks

any book on quantum physics would say , what he has done.
I read about him in
1-Brief history of time (stephan Hawking)
2-Quantum (al-khalili)

thanks for the help guys/(girls?)

I was actually hoping to read an article on his work rather then an entire book. I am not that into quantum physics. I just take an interest in it, i know most of the definitions and basic knowledge of workings of the quantum physics.

I was watching this documentary on String Theory and they mentioned that the biggest problem right now is to combine the force Gravity with the other 3 forces (The Strong, The Week and The Electromagnetism). Max Planck proposed and proved that electric and magnetic forces are really part of the same.

I thought that Abdul Salaam's work involved proving that 2 of the forces were really one, now i don't remember which ones those are. Is it strong and week? or did his work actually discovered strong and week nuclear forces?

a web article will be great for this.

any web links?

I don't know which internet you were searching, but anyway here is the list:

Abdus Salam - Biography
Chowk: Science: Dr Abdus Salam - The ’Mystic’ scientist
http://www.alislam.org/library/salam.html
Amazon.com: Cosmic Anger: Abdus Salam - The First Muslim Nobel Scientist: Gordon Fraser: Books
The Mathematics Genealogy Project - Abdus Salam
Abdus Salam - Hutchinson encyclopedia article about Abdus Salam

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

he combined the weak and electromagnetic forces. the combined force is called the electro-weak force.
