Alright, so finally we have someone doing things right in Pakistan. Juggan Kazim has signed a 3 film deal with Shaan -- and the films will be bilingual, in English and Urdu. I think this is a really awesome move as Shaan is one of the few film makers in the Lahore industry (besides Samina/Usman Peerzada and Shoaib Mansoor (not exactly based in Lahore) who is capable of making watchable films. Looking forward to this one.

hmmm i hope juggan is not the main lead....she shud be the villian/bady role as she is a good actress in dat manner...her voice cant make her a good leading actress
as for shaan he is ok (shaan pe bhi kabhi kabhi sahi aqal ka dora par jata hai jo usay achi films banane ka khayal ajata hai warna tou woh apni asusual gandasa wali films main busy hota hai) its good that he is doing something good for lollywood.....him as a director? hmmm he is ok not bad (i watched mujhe chaand chahiye...it was a nice film in terms of that there were no cheap dances or dialogues/scenes otherwise it was pretty pathetic in terms of acting and story) so i really hope he brings something new in this film
anyways all the best to the film

blessed2006, keep in mind that cinema in Pakistan has a very "different" audience relative to television. The actors and directors (well most of them are from the same set as the audience lol) make films for that segment. Shaan makes tons of money from those gujjar films that is why he does them. I think in terms of direction he's the only hope we have besides Shoaib Mansoor (Mehreen Jabbar isn't exactly into making commercial cinema so I've precluded her)
I think Mujhe Chand Chahiye was really sweet but they made tons of changes in the film's script (like adding Reema and Moamar) after Shaan's Guns and Roses didn't do too well. So there is a reason as to why the story was a bit disjointed and the film not as good as it could have been.
On Juggan Kazim: She speaks fluent English and looks good, not many actresses in Pakistan do that. I believe thats the reason she's in. And she's very talented and has got a fair amount of spunk to her. Hope her films do really well!

^ yeah i know most of our directors are from the same class as the audience....yeah everybody does films/dramas/ads etc etc for money so shaan is no different (but his gujjar films r toooooo horrible). i really hope he brings some diversity to his direction
mujhe chaand cud have been better if momi's stupid acting wasnot there or agar reema ka extra part bhi na hota....
as for juggan yeah she is educated (looks wise aint bad too she is cute) but i was talking about her rough voice which is more suitable for baddy roles like she is mano salwa...well hope she does good in teh film

People sign a multiple film deal everywhere in the world thats how franchises are made; also signing a three film deal doesn't necessary mean that they will be shooting all three movies the same time, they could make the first movie and if it does good business they will move ahead with the next one.

YES....RARI389 im well aware tht shes not gna do the all 3 films at once thanx....
all im sayin is that such 'multiple deals'are unusual for a newcomer like juggan...she may have seen the script OF the first film but how does she know what remaining 2 projects will be like.
btw franchise is incorrect term, better calling it multiple deal/contract

Samina Peerzada has made an awesome film (Inteha) when she had things totally under her control. She produced that film and though it was a money spinner of reasonable proportions, she didnt make much out it personally as the proceeds of the theatrical run went to the distributors Mandvivalla Inc. Her second film Shararat was sabotaged by the awful producer -- she had to compromise on everything from the cast, script, music etc. and ended up making a bad pseudo-punjabi film. Her husband made one good film too in 1997. I think they're a really talented couple.
And I think people should have enough sense to know that a flop film is not necessarily a bad film.

I never called this particular deal a Franchise, i only used the term franchise to give you an example of people signing multiple films.

Okay...im gonna give my opinion in da 'sensible' way, shararat was a flop at box office and i personally think the film was bad. From trailers there was no sign of Saminas stamp, just the usual lolly stuff. you could tell it was a total compromise...one hand there was some good songs, on the other naseebo lal was screeching some typical lolly song. True, the producer had made her compromise....i hope she makes more movies cos shes gr8!!!!

Shaan has revealed more details of the film with Juggan..in the following interview with instep:
INSTEP Magzine
The film is called 'Chup' and script has been written by Mashal Peerzada. He has 4 films in planning stage.
theres also some info on what Reema Khan's forthcoming film 'Kitni Haseen Hia Zindagi' is going to be about, Shaan worked on the script.

I thought the jang article from today's Instep says that she signed one film so far.
Anyway, I was really excited to hear of the news of his new films. He's got 4 planned, one of which has a script from a writer that just graduated from a States film program.

I didn't know 5th Element is his company.
Its about time - he's made a lot of money off of 5th element and like being a star in every movie that ever comes out. Eventually, all that cash adds up. Wife is also from a well to do family, so he's connected when it comes to finances.
