Pakistan Television Corporation has come a long way since TV entered into Pakistan via the NEC-Japan after a short period of trial and limited circuit telecast of educational programs at Lahore and Karachi.
This thread is an attempt to bring out each and every PTV drama whether a telefilm, or a single play or a series or a docu-drama or a serial...telecast from ALL the Centres of PTV since the time the first proper centre or a station was established in Lahore on 26th November-1964 and formally inaugurated by President of Pakistan Field Marshall Mohammad Ayub Khan.
This could be an attempt in vain...but my threads die-hard cause I am alone capable of streaming them---till I feel that the very purpose has been achieved.
Please contribute by mentioning the PTV plays you remember. If there is a repeat...let it be....as we would eventually arrive at a conclusion to filter out the exact number of plays PTV has given to its viewers so far.
Thank you for your participation....
I will be adding to the list the plays I remember and a bit or two info. behind it..which may interest the reader!
Best,
Raju Jamil,
PTV debut from Karachi Centre on 2nd December-1967
when PTV-Karachi Centre was inaugurated on 26th Nov-1967.

Please do share your experiences of working on ankahi, uncle urfi, and other classics.
I think 80's were the best years of PTV in terms of creativity. Some of the most memorable dramas and shows including PTV awards were made during that decade.

Arjay uncle this is a great endeavour that you have undertaken. Pak dramas of yesteryears were the best of the best. It will indeed be awesome to have them available, or even catalogued.

Aaghai (28th November 1978)
The story was published in a literary magazine "Seap" in the form of a novelette in 1970 and its dramatic presentation was telecast from Karachi TV station. the main theme revolves around the intrinsically rebellious nature of human beings who like to wander away from the beaten track, rejecting the socio-environmental constraints and exploring new horizons. Like the plays of that time, the story was sketched in the backdrop of the melting values of rural gentry. It is an anecdote of a landlord and a corrupt police officer, who in a fit of self denial, quits his job and goes to become a religious person. He shifts to the village of the landlord and becomes an official priest of the mosque. The son of the priest rebels against his father and goes back to the tumult of city life. In this rumpus created by the dissenters there are characters, who still hold traditions and age old values dear to their heart. These people in a way agree with the rebels but do not find enough courage to either support or join them. They continue to live divided lives between two worlds despite the fact that they have the potential and even the will to change social taboos. Maintaining the balance in the society is their exalted objective.

Aik Mohabat Sau Afsanae (11th April 1976)
The plays were written by Ashfaq Ahmed and telecast in 1977. The serial under the title `Aik Mohabat Sau Afsanae' are different stories based on the theme of love. Quratul Ain was the first drama of the series and later productions which made their mark on the audience were, `Dedae-Dil, Na Soor', Mak-e-Kinan, Sakina and Cinderella'. The author appears to have a message for the audience that "love is purity, love is respect and love is sacrifice for the fellow human beings". These plays were liked by educated people who would immerse themselves in the philosophical orientation of the author.
I've watched Quratul Ain which was directed by Nisar Hussain. It had excellent performances by Jamil Barnani and Mustansar Hussain Tarrar. You can watch it here:

- Kiran Kahani: Written by: Haseena Moin (The first serial where Roohi Bano did wonders while Babra Sharif made her TV debut and Manzoor Qureshi played lead. Manzoor rose to become GM PTV-K also. Zafar Masud was also there--directed by Shirin and Mohsin Ali)

- Zer Zaber Pesh: Written by: Haseena Moin ( Zafar Masud special...
GOD...he was a great actor. Died in a road accident in Egypt
- Be-Jamalo ( Directed by Ghufran Imtiazi in 1968 from Rawalpindi Centre--and our Baddo...BADAR KHALIL made her TV debut playing a women who is invisible...creating a situation between families..not liking anything sailing smoothly ...(aaj kall bohat chalti aisi series

- Alif Noon: Written by: Kamal Ahmed Rizvi ( Scripted by Kamal Bhai, I did but ONE episode during my Lahore visit of 1968 when Yawar hayat looped me in...) Lahore Centre production.
- Gup Shup ( Adeel's dad--Shoaib Hashmi's adaptation of SESAME STREET from LAHORE Centre---where Nayyara Noor made her debut. The stock cast had; Samina (Saeed) Ahmed, Maryam, Hasnat Ahmed, Abbas Shafi, Salima Hashmi, Naveed Shahzad and Shoaib himself portraying BIG BIRD.....I did two episodes with Abbas Shafi and my buddy...Shamim Hilaly's brother..late Hasnat Ahmed) 1969
