well he's got at least one thing right - he did not cast himself in any kind of role. it's a good start. he has three outstanding actors in there - Talat Hussain, Nayyar Ijaz, and the Ustad from Ilzam.

The movie still looks set to sink. The songs suck. The story will be a very superficially patriotic saga - typical Rauf Khalid. Zara bibi can look pretty but that is about it.

Still if it becomes available in Toronto, I will definitely support it and watch it.

actully the story is set in the early 19th century. A hindu girl who's 16 is converting and wants to marry a muslim boy. Under the British law she must wait till she gets 18 but under the Islamic law 16 is the legitimate age for a girl to get married. The story then moves from this point on.

For some reason i can't enter the website but seeing Ta'alat Hussain, i'd think it'd be worth giving a try.

look I haven't seen the movie. but I have followed the making of the movie for some time now. And I've read this guys interviews and watched some of his dramas. All his work has this very patronizing approach of spelling everything out for his audience. Most of his work has been a variation on the patriotism theme which extends and includes the Muslim vs British/Hindu conflict in the pre-1947 India.

in a nutshell, I resent his unintelligent treatment of these extremely sensitive topics.

yeah but what does this movie has to do with patriotism? The time period is of eighteen hundred something, when the idea of two seprate nation wasn't even idealized yet. Hindu and Muslims were together fighting the brits. And just so you know this movie is about a court case. What is that court case? i have discussed it earlier.

I think it will end up being a very simplistic treatment of a very complex topic. either way it's all in the semantics.

more importantly, welcome to the forum. it seems like you're interested in the Pak entertainment scene and believe you me there aren't too many of you here. So, good to have you here and hopefully we'll have more intelligent threads on Pak entertainment industry.

      ok thanx

but atleast admit that you were wrong about patriotism being the theme in this particular movie. It won't matter to you but atleast it'd encourage me to discuss more.

PCG, I could never quite understand your fascination with Pakistani movies. Nothing that Indian movies are any less inexcusable. What gives?
