Will be there for a work-trip. I have one of the weekdays free to do anything I like. I wana visit the desi area of Toronto. COuld someone please point me in the right direction. I'll have a rental car and staying in Downtown Toronto. Please keep in mind I only have one day and I want to do Pakistani stuff. Visit shops and eat at a nice desi restaurant.
Thanks,

Thank you, hskhan. Very informative.
Do you know if Pakistani Born US Citizens require a US passport to enter Canada and enter back into USA?.
How about Americans? I have an American friend who is also travelling with me?

Visit Gerrard Street ... you'll be done in about 20 minutes. Head out of the city into the suburbs to visit more desi populated areas where there is a mixture of places, not strictly Pakistani. They have some spots in Scarborough/Markham/Malton/Albion/Mississauga.

WHAT!!! done in 20 minutes???
I heard so much about this street in Toronto. And you are telling me I'll be done in 20 minutes?. Don't they have clothing stores, chaat houses and tikka restaurants?. How about Mithai shops?. I don't plan on going to suburbs. I got 3 to 4 hours to kill in a desi environment. Maybe I should head to Niagara Falls for the second time.
Whats in Missisauga?.

There's nothing really to do in Mississauga ... just little centres here and there of desi shops.
Suroor's idea of taking an open bus tour all over downtown would be a good idea.
Anyway, Gerrard street isn't very big and it's usually quiet during the day time.

There's actually a better restaurant in Mississauga. Shahi Nan Kebab on Eglinton in Mississauga. They have quite good service and proper tables to eat on .... and the food was quite yummy when I went ... ... much better than Lahore Tikkah which was my previous favourite place. There is also Shahi Karahi in Toronto which is apparently the best. I haven't been there though.

There are two locations ... one in Toronto and one in Scarborough. Anyway, I have *heard* it is good .... never actually been.
