I could be wrong, but I think it's easier with a spouse visa. I'm pretty sure I read on the spanish embassy website that if you have a spouse visa (with your spouse's name in it obv) and you are travelling with your spouse, you don't need to make a prior application - you will get the visa on landing same as him. I guess it will probably be similar for most EU countries.

I don't have my passport or NIC on my husband's name. But of course the Spouse Visa is sponsored by him.

I hope it will lead to some perks of no-visa in at least some places, at least the Schengen areas

I don't think it is a hinderance for my visa process.

I think you might still need a visa...if you planning to travel in Europe, why don't you call any of the Shcengen countries and see if they require one...

i thought once you get into Europe legally then the movement within European Union is seamless. isn't that the case?

Turkey. A valid UK visa will allow Turkish entry visa and i just got a confirmation from someone coming back from Istanbul.

Countries where Pakistani PP doesnt need a visa:

Sri Lanka
Maldives
SeyChelles

and definitely a few more where no one wants to go

You don't need to change your NIC and Passport name. Outside Pakistan no one cares about your NIC. As for the Passport, the name can be the same as your spouse but it doesn't matter, what matters is the issuing country of the passport or a valid visa.

This is what it says on the France Consulate website:
The foreign spouse of a EU national (except French national) may enter France without visa if they are holding:
a valid travel document;
a valid UK residence permit with the endorsement "family member of EEA national" (this endorsement is compulsory to be visa exempted);
and if they are joining or travelling with the EU national.


Your spouse visa will say 'spouse of X Y Z'. So you can just check to see if that is sufficient (rather than family member of EEA national). When this is running out, you will be applying for ILR, this has no attachment to your spouse, so you would have to apply for your own visa if need be. But after a year on IRL, you should be able to apply for citizenship and once you have a British Passport, then you can travel freely.

i dont think that UK settlement visa will give you any benifit while applying for Schengen visa from Pakistan. They might still ask you for some non-sense kind of documents.
