I'll be travelling by car through Vermont and New Hampshire on the way to Boston. I can take out a day for sight-seeing.

Suggestions anyone?

^ thanks for the reply CB. I'm going to be in Boston for two days to speak at a conference. I will have late afternoons and evenings to myself to do some sight-seeing / going around town etc.

I'm driving down from Ottawa, so I will be passing through Vermont and/or New Hampshire, and I wish to spend part of the day there as well. I've heard good things about Stowe, Vermont... so may make a day trip out of that.

Other suggestions are welcome. What are some of Boston's must see / must do attractions?

good to know about the conference MASHA ALLAH ...
Boston downtown is worth seeing from Faneuil Hall to the Harvard Square. Faneuil Hall is an excellent tourist attraction with lots of stuff to see like the harbor nearby and the food is excellent there as well. Then you can try a famous thing called Boston Duck Tour. it will take you around the whole boston and then will take a ride in the Charles River aswell... Boston is more an ancient and Historic city so there are lot of stuff there to see. Boston Duck tour is best for it. IF you are looking for good Halal restaurants, then there are a couple of them there. There are lot of good museums and attractions near by as well.

Almost whole of NE is very scenic, you can choose from a lot of resorts, Stowe, Vermont is definitely one of them. The only thing is that its getting colder here every day, so beach activity is pretty much a nono...
When exactly are you coming, I am in job hunt right now, thus I m free, I can come and join you for an evening or so.

Regards,
CB.

Worried

I have never been but I have heard only praises about driving up Mount Washington

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Thanks for the suggestions for things to do in Boston CB... I'll certainly PM you once my itinerary is finalized to see if we can meet when I'm there.

njgal, Mount Washington is definitely on the agenda - in fact, it was the only thing I could think of when I decided to drive down, and later, someone recommended stowe etc. Thanks for those links.

I am not sure if you are done with your trip or not but if you are into history and such you SHOULD visit Plymouth, Massachusetts (South of Boston about 40 mins drive) Plymouth is famous for being the landing place of pilgrims, Mayflower II is worth seeing, plymouth rock is cool ( it's just a rock though) and Plymouth Plantation is lovely.. it's like a small town of 1620's.. My husband and I were there on the weekend, loved it! We went whale watching too but it was long day trip so that may not fit into your schedule.

Around this time, people usually drive from Mass to NH just to see the fall foliage so you will definitely enjoy that. It's beautiful out there!

If you feel like shopping, you must go to Wrentham Outlets!

If you want to stay only in Boston then CB's suggestions are great! I love the walk on Charles River anyday of the year :-)

Wrentham Outlets are hardly worth a visit if you are visiting from another country. Same things you can buy in Canada. I lived very close Wrentham for 2.5 months and got sick of that place
