Joke topic? That's what I thought since I first read this. If someone offered to take me for lunch, I would still suggest 786 restaurant though.

Same here. Last time I went there was a couple of months ago. I especially like their chapli kababs, nihari, paya and I love almost any indian/pakistani restaurants butter chicken. Their qorma is really good too. Actually, I like everything I've eaten.

^ No, we have more... there is another one called "Sana", I think. We have quite a few Halal Pakistani restuarants in the city.

yes but they are not as good as 786. We had one "Tabaq" which was good and Al-Hamra but they closed down fast. I guess we Pakistanis here don't know how to run a successful restaurant. Then in the west there's Tandoori Knights and Tandoori grille, have not tried tandoori knights but grille is "ok" from what I have tasted at weddings. Also a new one opened up right below 786 lol, tried it once, didn't like it.
(this thread is turning into pakistani restaurants in montreal) lol

Tandoori Knights is good. Which one is Tandoori grille? Al-Hamra had really good pizza, if it's the one I'm thinking of. They just changed their name to Shahi Palace.
Is Tandoori grille the one that took over where Shalimar used to be? There's also a Pizza/Fries place on Salaberry in the Cartierville area.
Do you guys know which restaurant it is that sells fried chicken in the Parkistan (i.e. Parc Extension) area?
Let's add an Arab restaurant to the topic too. Pizza Mira's pizza is really good.

last time I got food from 786, it turned out to be very stale.
There's this other restaurant on the outskirts of the city near the mosque - think it's called Tandoori Express.... that's my current favorite in terms of food... no ambiance or proper seating for large groups though, but the food is amazing!

Tandoori Grille used to be Shalimar, they just changed names and the person who used to run Tandoor Plus (on oxford near ICQ) has joined management.
Al-hamra used to be on Salaberry where the pizza place is that you mentioned (Tandoori something).
Haven't tried pizza mira but capital pizza run by pakistanis is not bad (on pierrefonds).. Also metro pizza if you want fried chicken, in the west.

I think your talkinga bout Tandoor Plus, near the Islamic Centre of Quebec. The place has seen more than 3 different owners in the past 5 years or so lol. Have not tried it in the longest time. I heard their balti is really good.

That's the one! the Balti is finger licking good! - we drive from Ottawa just to pick up food from there sometimes.

Is Metro Pizza halal? I've tried Pizza Capital before. The only thing is that their meat pizzas are not halal.
The Al Hamra I've gone to used to be where Shahi Palace is now. Pizza Mira is really good. I like their chicken and mexican pizza.

You'd have to double check Metro it's been long time since I last went. And yes sorry didn't mention, Pizza capital is doubtful when it comes to meat.. one thing is they serve pepperoni/ham which they say are haram. :S anyways, their fries and veggie pizza is good for late night when nothing is open.
I'll check out Mira when I get a chance. Thanks!
