Hi there! I am going to Pakistan next month and wanted to take a few electronics and wanted to know how to charge/use them there. I am taking one digital camera and a laptop. How am I to charge these and what exactly do I need? I have a rechargeable battery for the camera and just plug it in to a wall until its done and same with laptop. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

Also would my camera be allowed aboard the airplane? What are some things to avoid taking? Can makeup come on board?

Where are you traveling from? If you're from the US or Canada, you have to be careful because the voltage in America is 110V, while in Pakistan (as well as Europe and the Middle East) it is 230V. So if you plug in your stuff there without a power regulator, it might blow off.

If you're traveling from the UK you won't need to regulate the voltage, but you will still need a power adapter, because Pakistan uses the European plug system, ie 2 pins.

If you take your laptop battery charger with you, then it should be able to convert between the voltages. Same with a battery charger if you're using rechargeable batteries for your camera. Be sure to take a plug adapter on the other hand because the socket in Pakistan is for round pins.

You can take makeup and camera and laptop with you on board. However, while going through the security scanner, you have to take your laptop out of its case and let it be scanned.

Worried

you need a converter with the right plugs (socket shapes and sizes are different in each country)

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
