i have zebi's info- i'll pm it to you. if you look in the engagement pictures thread, you can see mine there- she did my makeup and i was very pleased. it was very natural and she honestly didnt even use that much product which made me happy cos i hate going to mac and feeling them layer basecoat after basecoat on my face. ick. but i had it all- eyeshadow, eyeliner, lipstick, blush and base.
she's been doing it for about 15 years now and she's excellent at contouring- made my nose look amazing! haha i think she charges about $200 or less.

the other one is shirley- she charges about $300-$400 for makeup plus the cost of a trial. i've heard she doesnt do contouring that well or at all? she works with her niece so on the day of your wedding, it could be shirley or her niece who do your makeup. she's also very busy and does multiple brides on any given day, so if your wedding is coming up really soon, i'd suggest booking her asap (if you want to go with her, that is). http://www.shirleybeautyconcept.com/site.html

I am still negotiating with them hope it works out ...I really want my make-up done by her ..since she is not going to travel to the states ..she will have to fly for my wedding specially ..and it's a bit pricey so I dont know what to do.. If I could find some other bride in the states maybe we can split the cost or something

if you know someone who has Air miles, you could use those to pay for her ticket too.

I find the makeup on newlook website really heavy and almost theatrical in exageration- but i know its all about personal taste. SomeGchick you look so happy in your engagement pictures its wonderful!!!

it happens... :P

especially if you have air miles! and think about it, shes not just doing yours- she'll do your mom, your aunts, your cousins- the whole shebang. if shes really good and you really want her, it could be worth it.

thanks! after 5 years of dating, i'd say its about time i got my rock! (ok that sounds a bit desperate, haha. i wasn't... we were trying to figure out the whole pakistani/hungarian thing)
plus, my folks flew in all the way from dubai, so the whole family was there, it was awesome.

i only hope i'm able to let go and relax and be as chill at the wedding!

about newlook- the first picture in the makeup gallery and the last picture are the two nicest ones. the rest are all pretty much the same- eyeshadow, lots of black eyeliner etc. it really depends on the client- also, all these women are models, arent they? havent they done any "real" brides? i think the makeup on www.benzerworld.com is my favourite, especially if you look under Benzer Classics.

I aggree about the makeup on Benzer in the classics. Its so elegant. Of course its tragic they dont do the same makeup on real brides... there is again white paint and clown cheeks ;)

manomano, i think thats why the more informed you are, about the style of makeup you want and the colors that suit you, the better it is. i'm taking tons of pics to my makeup artist and getting her to reproduce those colors and actually discussing the day with her. if they have any skill, it should be no problem. its very important to speak up and be REALLY clear about what you want, and what you DON'T want. they cant read your mind and they dont know your personal taste from just one consultation, you know? so open up!!

one of my girlfriends came back from a consultation so unhappy- and this is with one of the supposedly best artists in the city- she said she looked like a drag queen. but when i asked her if she'd said something about it, she was like, well... no, cos she kept pushing the whole "you need it to look good in your photos" crap. im sorry but your photographer is probably more responsible for how your pics come out than your makeup artist! otherwise, all these gori brides who wear white and keep their makeup simple and to the point would all look ugly in their pics, and thats just not true.

less is more, people, less is more.

I agree groovy- less is more if done right. Do people forget that you need to look nice in person also, i doubt any one would look nice with draggish theatrical makeup layers on.
Sara i read that you didnt like your mehndi? Why? Dimples work looks like she is really good at mehndi.

its totally desperation, lady! if you cant find a good makeup artist, what're you supposed to do?

although, humeira, have your tried non-paki makeup people in houston? at salons, etc? if you take your dupatta or your outfit and pictures of makeup you like, i'll bet they'll be able to come up with a gorgeous look for you. your mom or someone else could help with the setting of the dupatta.

well that's what I did, i took a chance and prayed..and everything came out well (at least I was satisfied with her work).

I still think brides IN pakistan have it so much easier, the shopping and makeup and all.
