SGC, I definitely recommend her for hte mehndi, she did a superb job.
makeup wise, i was very satisfied with everything. She took my suggestions for how I wanted my duputta set and hair styled. Everyone says that I looked completely different, the makeup wasn't caked on or too ghost white. Unfo i don' have any closeups to show yet..
i dont want to look too different- i mean, i still want to look like myself, you know? im going to go with zebi- i liked what she did on my engagement and i know her well enough that i can really talk to her and we'll play around and figure out a good look.
btw, my friend who went to shirley and after her trial said she looked like a drag queen, looked AMAZING tonight. apparently she talked to shirley about it, and she toned it down and it came out beautifully. her henna was gorgeous too- punita did hers. i just found punita really hard to get a hold of and quite fussy when i did get a hold of her.
well its her home number, so i dont want to put it up here- but she's at 401/neilson in scarborough, she has her makeup studio set up at home-- its not a ghetto setup cos she also does waxing, threading, facials, etc. and she is licensed and regulated like any other salon. and she charges in the $150-$200 range, i believe, but she'd have to quote you a price herself obviously. i can pm it to whomever is interested.
i saw dimple today. loved her, loved her work, gave her my deposit, woo hoo! honestly though, that lady knows how to do henna and her designs were absolutely stunning! shes charging me $125 for mine.
since u asked sgc..
The makeup was done by the same person on both days, but i just like the shots from baraat day more than the ones from valima day (more closeups of makeup)
I wore a maroon jamavar lengha that MIL got from Karachi.
Dude, the studio shots, if i look at em so up close, i can c every tiny imperfection and spot and hair..
^ yep.. she did charge me $300 for one day
nope i am Not in favor of her at all

I've heard not so good things abt Saman....
Dimple did mine, she's great!
i've heard mixed reviews of shirley too... one of my friends was very unhappy at her trial but looked amazing on her wedding day.
why don't you go for trials, aman?
and yeah, i've heard not-so-good things about saman too.
i like dimple's brides too, personally. after zebi, she was my second choice.
The brides on her website look really nice, esp the eye makeup! Why weren't you satisfied with her? Can I c a pic
yeah.. i got bluffed too through her website .. and my stupidiest mistake was to opt out for the trial makeup anyway, some likes her a lot and I dont since i dont have good experience with her
yes you may see my picture but how do you upload the image from your Hdrive?
just click Image Upload which will be to the right of the page when you add reply in this thread. then click Browse when the popup window opens. then just select the image from your H drive.
as for zebi, yeah i know lots of times her clients have come in requesting pictures of what they want. thats what im doing too- i found one of dimple's looks actually, that i really liked but with olive green and champagne eyeshadow and a different shade of lippy- so i showed it to her and discussed if it would work with my complexion etc. and we figured it out together. shes really nice that way.
i find though a lot of people go up to makeup artists and ask for specific looks without taking into consideration the model or person they're seeing the look on, and their own features and complexion. i think going to a makeup artist, one should be open to their opinions and ideas too since they're the professionals, and they're in business for a reason. if they sucked, no one would hire them. you gotta have a certain level of trust.
this reminds me I'm in Mississauga. I moved here from Chicago with my habibi. I was wondering If I can find good Indian/Paki clothing stores? I have to get some Party wear outfits. A huge khandan wedding is coming up. I wanna do my shopping tonight.
So If anyone can give me names and location that would be cool. inshaAllah.
jazakAllah khayr in advance.
I think I can help you, you can email me on khaqan99@yahoo.com and i'll give you a few addresses that can send over to you at your address...they'll send you pics too so you can select. Or, you can type "Salwar Kameez Pakistan" on google and get a list of everyone who will deliver to your doorstep on time. Most of them are stiched to suit your size, so you can probably select the salwar kameez style, either designer wear, or ready made or anything else...and place an order online... happy searching
