Hi,
I'm getting engaged in August. My future mil is going to Pakistan in a few weeks and is going to buy my outfit. She needs to know what color I want before then. So far, I'm leaning towards something in the lavender family, either lavender with silver or lavender with darker purple or blue accents. Does anyone have any pictures of lenghas with these colors? I looked but couldn't really find too many. Also, another option is light green with darker green shading. Or if anyone has any other nice ideas I'm open to that too. I want it to be a lighter color because it will be in the summer, and I want to wear a darker color for the wedding. My favorite color is purple and my second favorite color is green, but I don't really think they could work together...

One of my friend's wife wore a lavender colored lehanga with dark purple accents and silver kaam on their nikah. She also wore light makeup and silver jewellery and she looked very different. I loved every piece of her outfit. I say for it. Give your MIL a color and an idea of what kind of kaam you are looking for. I bet she will find something in the shops. Its hard to find pics and show because whats availible there could be different than pics avalible online. Unless you go to a designer ofcourse.

lavender and green would look so pretty together! have you seen fresh lavender? it grows with green leaves and looks so pretty! i also have some jewelrey with lavender and green beads and it looks so pretty together!
there is pic of a bride with a green and purple lengha on this forum somewhere and she looks gorgeous, the shades are a bit bright for my liking, i would go for a deeper more subdued purple and green.... but nonetheless she lloks lovely and people did comment on how nice she looked!

empress, give her fabric swatches! don't just tell her lavendar or light green... it could mean something very different from what you're envisioning. go to a nice fabric store and just get swatches, they're usually under a $1, and then place them together and see what you like, and give them all to her to take. they can dye anything to match any color in pakistan. its fab!!
also with lavendar and light green- you wanna be careful it doesn't look too, well, too much like a baby nursery's color scheme or something, u know? pastels can sometimes be harder to work with than darker colors.
theres a lehenga in the bridal makeup pics thread that a lot of people commented on- it was lavender and it was paired with this gorgous berry stain color- like if you eat blackberries and you get this lovely color on your fingertips from the blackberry juice? that really made the lavender stand out more. lavender and grey looks good too but i'm not sure how that would translate into a pakistani wedding dress... something to think about though?
theres also another one there that a lot of people liked - it was ivory and it had three shades of purple in the bottom of the lehenga. that one was stunning too.

Umm I have a lavendar (kinda on the pinkish side thougH) lengha...I wore it at my brother's wedding. I'll post the picture for you, if that's the color you like, then just tell her that....

Was I not supposed to say that?

How about a light but bright turquoise lengha? a friend wore a light teal/sky blue lengha with dull silver kaam on her walima and it was beautiful...it really made her look super cute, more so then her wedding day, they color was just bright n nice.
