I agree...I don't like the bride's dress and the guy's shoes are really looking weird!!
ok...grape sized gems...not hot. one or two or 3 ok....but this is TOO much. i just don't get why the indian style has to be ridiculously bhara bhara and guady. i mean i'm all for it...but sometimes it just so over the top

I think she is the other bride - if you're talking about the one standing in bluish orange clothes - because there is this white guy who has haar as well maybe he is the other dulah

May be you are right but the white guy with the haar looks like a kid to me...I mean he does not look like that girls husband...

Actually, I like the jewelry...it's not that bad.
And as for the indian gaudy style, I think that they make it bhara bhara for the movies, music videos and of course television shows to make it look big and fancy.
he he he......
the best thing is visit designers. choose the design. make alterations in design if u want and then buy the stuff u want for ur dress. go to really small shops where they do all the embroidery things. it will cost u much less than the original price.
one of my friend did thin on her brothers wedding. they choose the lehnga which is for 75,000 pak rupees and get it done from Mohsin sons in motti bazar (pindi) in 25 thousand.
this is what i'll do on my cousins wedding. ;)
So you can just pay a designer for the design and walk away to get it made from a cheaper place? How does that work? How much are bridal designs worth anyway? I thought when you go to a designer you are paying them for everything (the design, material, kaam, stitching, etc). Can someone elaborate on this please because it sounds like a great deal for the consumer but it doesn't seem likely that designers would easily give up $$ knowing that ppl would do this?
its done all the time in pakistan, gg. thats the beauty of being there - you can get anything and everything knocked off and made at a cheaper price, even if the quality of kaam and material is the same as the designer thing. i think most people go to designers for the designer name, not for the product. if you have no such concerns, then yeah, take a picture of what you're looking for and then you can get identical kaam and material from stores and give them to your tailor to stitch for you.
SGC - that's assuming what you like is already on some designer website or mag or somewhere accessible that you can copy the pics and take with you, right? That makes sense (although it's hard to get a sense of the kaam from pics alone); but otherwise if you go to some designer and like something that is quite new or not available elsewhere because i guess they only advertise a sample from the variety that would be available at the store then how can you still get it 'copied' for a cheaper price? I've heard that at most high end places they won't even let you take pictures wearing the bridal lenghas because that's exactly what they are worried about..... so I guess what i'm asking is what are the appropriate ways to 'copy'?
keep looking online, in magazines, at other people's clothes etc. when i was ordering my bridal outfit, i found a fabric sample in an upholstery store, no less! but it was so gorgeous, i bought a swatch and i took it to the lady and explained what i wanted. i also bought coordinating color samples so that they'd know exactly what i wanted in what shade etc and therefore nothing was left to chance. thats one way of doing it.
chances are, you'll find something you want somewhere, and if not, then you could go to the stores and see all the samples they have there. if you take your mum or someone else with you, then i'll bet they would know more about the kind of kaam done on any one particular piece you like, and they'd be able to explain in to the darzi and the kaam wala. i mean, thats how i'd do it if i was in karachi since i have no idea whick kind of kaam is called what
