The same store that designed the jewelry for Jodhaa Akbar has released a more toned down collection of Mughal style jewelry for sale. I actually really like Tanishq, they have fixed prices and everything comes with proper certification...so its one of the few Indian jewelers that I trust enough to buy stones from. It's worth checking out if you're ever in India...

I was actually kinda surprised to see that they had posted the prices too...I've included them with the pictures...

    Rs.655,288 [$16,400]

    Rs.144,789 [$3,600]

    Rs.377,380 [$9,500]

    Rs. 255,031 [$6,400]

    Rs. 160663 [$4,000]

    Rs. 68,548 [$1,700]

    Rs. 338,378 [$8,500]

    Rs. 226006 [$5,700]

    Rs. 204,179 [$5,100]

    Rs. 21,362 [$535]

And the item I'm currently coveting...enameled bangles:

    Rs. 56,228 [$1,400]

nice..I found some jewellery at a reasonable price that sort of looks like jodha akar jewellery. So, I decided to take a picture. I am not sure if I like it or not yet....I might go buy it if I decide that I like it.

    There's a necklace, jhumkay, and a teeka

What do you think of this set:

I cant decide if its stunning in a kinda huge & overwhelming way, or just ridiculously gaudy.

    ^^ That is gaudy...

If the jewelry is gold over silver or sterling silver, then the prices are just ridiculous. You can find better mugal style jewelry for lot less at local places in both india and pakistan.

If I'm not mistaken, the Tanishq pieces are all in gold, and the stones come with proper certification.

I don't think anyone would charge $16,000 for costume jewelry.

Most of it is way too chunky for my taste...the only item that I really like are those enameled bangles. My naani wore a similar pair at her wedding (the same shape/design but hers are plain gold & emeralds with no enamel)...and I've wanted a pair like that since I saw hers.

hmmm i wouldnt buy too much judao..since its worth nothing in reality..sure it looks good...but its not worth any $$$......yet they make you pay ridiculous prices..for eg. a $6000 set...is worth $2000 in gold...thats just wrong..
