I still cook, clean, eat, work. When I do my laundry, I do his too. When he does his laundry, he does mine.

i've been married for three months, im at work f/t, live with MIL and FIL, not done much, made the odd roti and the pasta dish. hubbie is domesticated as he lived away whilst at uni, so he does his own stuff, most work i do is make his cup of tea in the morning lol. everyone pitches in. My MIL tells me not to do too much as she says in the end when she is really old, i'll be doing it all! funny but true!

hubby is very independent and used to doing things on his own so its great that i don't *need* to do things. i do as much as i can after work and he pitches in as and when we need it. for instance, i do the cooking on weekends for the whole week so we can take lunches with us/come to dinner, and he takes care of dropping off the laundry and picking it up. we do groceries together usually- he's way more focused in the store than i am- so i just make the list.

LOL for me, i came back to reality the day after valima Inlaws had come from Pak only a week prior and didnt know how to operate some things and we were leaving for our honeymoon in a couple of days. So hubs had me cook and stuff right after valima. It was to be honest a very jarring experience. I had always seen and thought that the new bahu doesnt do anything atleast for a week or so. If i had been in Pak that would probably be the case but here no one else was there to do it. 2 days later we went on our honeymoon and i came back to the full swing of things. To be fair to the inlaws and hubs they did as much as they could to help but i did the main cleaning, cooking and ironing. My FIL who doesnt do these types of things at home in Pak would vaccum for me and fix things around the place.
More than a year later, hubs and i have duties down pat. He does the vaccuming and bathroom and laundary while i do cooking and ironing. Keep in mind i dont work, i am a part time student.

He thinks its womans work.

I started the usual domestic chores two weeks after marriage, huby was used to living alone so he is pretty much independent in terms of laundry/ironing etc so no worries there! Going off topic, my friend's cousin is a gynaechologist, and now consultant GP. The poor woman used to come home to find a sink full of dirty dishes and kids toys scatterd around the house along with the usual mess that men and children make. Her husband is a stay at home dad! Bechari, the frustration she went through all them years! Alhamdollilah kids are all grown up now and they help out.

but it is Woman's work. Our current society / economic conditions have made job soft enough that woman can do it - but it doesn't change the way nature works. I will like to xplain more, but I am afraid I will get jumped by all these newly married (pro-feminist) women in the thread ... and I only like to be jumped at by stingle (still single) girls

well we had to order our own food [pizza] on our wedding night so we never left the ground to begin with.
as for everything else u have listed...well ofcourse all these are wife's responsibilities. hubby's role is only to make sure everything is done properly and to his satisfaction. or no food for the wife.

Yes, i actually should mention that my MIL felt really bad for it and when i went to Pak for the first time after the wedding, she didnt let me lift a finger. She said whether i stayed 2 weeks or 2 months i wasnt to do anything. So that kind of made up for it.

Yes, he works locally, poor wife has to travel far for her job, wake up earlier, come back later, make dinner clear up etc. As Saain says, he's just doing his job well, making sure everythings done to his satisfaction.

You know u dont mean a word of that, u just asking for a fight really. If a man works, and a woman works, why should the man sit doing nothing the rest of the time, its like the woman working twice as much as a man. A womans work is never done... especially if they live with men like u!
