Ok - I am getting married in early October and seeing as most of my wedding has been a rush jobbie (kinda last minute spur of the moment - was going to get married next year- then me and fiance thought sod that - lets do it this year - how difficult will it be?!) I have no make up artist... (I know I know - planning and preparation is key etc etc....)
I've had a look around and I really can't seem to find one that I click with - either they are too snooty (I have my work printed in Asiana Bridal don't ya know) or tooo pricey (you pay for quality and I have had my work printed in Asiana Bridal don't ya know) or I don't like their work - every bride looks the same. I am Uk based (Midlands) any personal reccomendations? people you have used that did a fab job. Ideally not based too far away as cost is an issue as I am paying for everthing myself and my budget is tight.
I also have no mendhi artist - so any reccomendations on that would be most welcome too.
I think I have spent so much time freaking out over the fact that I am getting married ( again) (- never thought it would happen to me , never thought I could meet the "one" etc etc blah blah blah) that I might have had a mental block about things such as a makeup artist /mendhi person.
Originally we were only going to have a small ceremony - Nikaah with immediate family and very close friends(10-15 ppl max) and perhaps a registry with a medium sized valima next year but alas things have gotten bigger than I would have liked and now we are having a medium ceremony for nikaah and registry and big valima all in the space of 2 weeks and its suddenly hit me at almost 3am in the morning(uk time) that I have no makeup artist....and of course if I am going to be having more people there then there is no way I can do my own makeup....
right... now.... breathe.....
Sorry about long post hope it makes sense

huney asian make-up artists are charging a bomb...but unfortunately there's so few of them around that are comfortable with working with asian skin that you are not able to negotiate with them.
However there is a girl called Safina in Birmingham, who is supposed to be really good and also trains people. So you could get either her or if you want pay less see if she'll give you the contact of one her students.
website i think is beautyacademy (i'll check that for u later on!)
Life is not a movie. Good guys lose. Everybody lies. And love does not conquer all.

Thanks Sweetpip - Have you used her? - I am really not a fussy person or overly demanding I just want someone I feel comfortable having in my home and around me (and putting makeup on me) on what I have no doubt will be nerve wracking day...

I think Naveeda is about that price range, she is brilliant. But I think 500 is way too expensive just for one day in my opinion.

hi, it really is a nightmare tryingto find someone who is reasonably priced and doesnt charge a bomb.
I havent used her but she did send me a couple of her pictures of work as i was looking for a makeup artist for my sister in law . Her name is nylah and her company is noor signature. i think she charges £350
NOOR SIGNATURE.
have u got access to facebook? theres another makeup artist on there called "divine bridal" who is based in birmingham. She did some party makeup for me and she was lovely and she is very competitively priced. it might be worth contacting her too.
let us know how u get on, best of luck.

Hey ariana, found your make up artist, yet?
Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond to look beyond the imperfections!

Hi
yep have found one... getting married in less than a week!
so my visits to the board are a bit sporadic at the mo!!!! - despite my best efforts I am getting stressed over the smallest things. I keep telling my fiance he should have listened to me and we should've eloped... ;-)
ps: still no makeup artist for the walima the week after... arghhhhhhhhhhh
