Okay guppies I really need your help!

I had makeup trials with Sadaf from Allenora and Naveeda and both very unsuccessful. One made me look like a clown and the other made me look ill. Both not a good look and i'm really not that bad looking.

So i've decided to book trials with Rubna Rafiq and some one from Shahnaz's Hena Palour in Finchley.

Has anyone had their makeup done by etiher? Any comments?

Rubna Rafiqs webpage looks amazing but then so did Allenors so i'm not going by webpages, most just have gorgeous models and airbrushing galore! Plus a freind had her Walima makeup done from her last year and it looked very greasy so not sure...

I'm desperate now as I have only 2.5 weeks for my registry and 4 weeks till the Shaadi and no makeup artist!

Yeah I have seen her work and she has real brides on her webpage and most do look really lovely.

Posho have you tried her?

May do a trial with her too but every trial cost £50/£60 so have to be a little sensible with how many I do.

I should have listened to all the guppies that said Sadaf was not good and nto to have a trial with her but I was wishful and now have learnt my lesson

i havent had a trial with any of these. But i have only been in contact through mails.
have you thought about contacting jawaad ashraf ? its weird to know that naveeda wasnt good ? i was thinking about getting my make up done from her aswell !! darn !
what about gini bhogpal , or that chick that had done make up course from ather zhehzad in lahore ? they have all the same price ranges for trials and the make up for the day itself.
but if you wouldnt mind will you please keep posting your experience here on ?

I've not tried her, but my other halfs friend used her, and mashallah her pics turned out fantastic. You may have seen her pics about?

Posho - those pics are lovely! Your friend looks like a queen! I think you've persuaded me to book a trial with her.

RC - Naveeda was good, my pics came out nice but when looking at me it looked like i was plastered with yello paint, not good. She did my friends last year and she looked lovely, on the day her foundation didnt look good either but her pics came out flawless. I guess Naveedas makeup is very standard, good but standard. I would still have a trial with her as maybe your face can hold her kind of makeup but mine jsut couldn't. Plus i gave her a pic of the kind of makeup i wanted and she jsut went "her colour scheme is all wrong" and didnt do it like the pic at all. She was a lovely lady though, really chatty and friendly.

hey girl,

you might be right. But i dont usually wear much make up,.. and when i do apply make up on myself, i always feel heavy, eventho i make sure is minimale. So i guess i would be feeling really pastry'ish myself. Did you consider jawaad ?

Jawad - no havent considered him as i wear a hijab and don't really want a guy doing my hair....wouldnt mind makeup but then i'd have to find someone else to do hair so it all gets messier.

on another note i made an appointemnt with KissnMakeup and she charges £75 for the trial and then £450 on the day!!! How extortionate is that?

If you're not too keen on alot of foundation then maybe Naveeda is not the way to go....but then saying that she did ask me if i as "afraid" of makeup - wich i'm not so maybe that's why she caked me. I thought she meant if i was afraid of eye makeup and red lips and all that which i'm not.

I rang the girl from Noor Signiture and she's based in birmingham which really is not ideal... i've asked to see some of her work as it isn't on the website so judging on that i'll book a trial....

My friends and I have been using Iram for our make-up and mehndi.
She does bridal as well as party makeup and we've all been really pleased with the results.
She's reasonably priced and will travel out for the wedding day but you have to ge to her for just party makeup.

Try Kanzah beauty, shes really good...her name is Ghazala...had her for my wedding and my sisters and shes so good...unlike other beauticians she takes criticism well and listens to you and her work is really good too

My best friend got her make-up done from Lubna Rafiq....after all the conversations with Lubna that she will pamper the bride do this, do that etc. She was more interested in doing the make-up as quickly as possible and moving on the the next wedding reception she had booked.

The make-up was okay but nothing special in anyway to say it has been done by someone highly talented.

Stoppit - i didn't get round to trying her no - totally forgot!

Druggist - umm why gruggist? Anyhow LRafiq is in the UK, her website is just full of amazig looking brides.

Well over the weekend i went to Hena - had a make up trial and the girl was lovely, she was european and just very very good. Listened to me and I showed her 2 pictures and she combined the look of both. She didn't cake me and still made me look like a bride.

I was really happy and really do recomend Hena....i'm still waiting to hear about the costs so may not be saying that afterwards but her work was very good.

My makeup Artist search can finally end! So relieved!
