Hey
I've only just got married (3 weeks ago). I love the traditional look, so wore a chattapatti gharara, in olive green, burnt orange, and pale cream/gold on the mehndi. My hubby wore a cream chalwar kameez. The theme of the mehndi was yellow and green so the rest of my guests wore those colours and I had flowers and table decor following the same theme. I kept my jewllery to a minimum, and wore my mum's gold dhaaka baali's, and some churiyaan that matched my outfit. My bhabhi also pinned pink flowers in my hair so that they stood out againt my outfit and tied a gajra on my wrist.
On the baaraat I wore a deep red farshi jamevaar gharara, with antique gold work, and mustard and deep purple boarders. My jewellery was a failry heavy antique gold set, with rose quartz, citrine and polki. I went all out with a tikka, jhoomar and naath. And had churiyaan to match my outfit.
My hubby wore a cream sherwani, with pale gold and red emroidery which we had made to compliment my outfit.
The decor was cream and with hints of red, and the stage was cream and gold.
On the valima I opted for a less traditional look, and went for a sea green fishtail lengha with copper and diamante embroidery, and a wide beige boarder. I had jewellery made to match, and went for a large pendant, drop earrings and a tikka. I wore matching churiyaan in one hand, and gold churiyaan in the other.
My hubby wore a blue suit and a green tie that complimented my outfit, with mother of pearl cufflinks that had a hint of green. The decor matched my outfit, with a cream and see grean stage set up. Even the cream flowers were dip-dyed so they matched my outfit.
The only disappointment was they sent us cake in the wrong colour so it didn't quite match the theme. But other than that all days went well.
