Dreaming

I'm from the US and had even less time off. My parents and inlaws went a year before and did all the shopping. I had three weeks for the wedding itself (got to Karachi two weeks before the wedding, attending a kajillion other weddings, mine was one of the last, and had about another week before I had to return to the US and work. It's not ideal, but it was manageable as long as you're okay letting others do the shopping.

In Love

Is there any work you can delegate?

Could you contact folks in Pakistan before flying out with designs of stuff you want to save time?

I was lucky that my mum went Pakistan before me to get stuff ready-as she knew my taste.

Do you have any family who know your taste in stuff and can start narrowing down shops in Pakistan so you don't waste time going around loads and loads of shops?

2 be honest with u i want to choose my outfit myself.....my in laws r going to get the baraat day outfit(my mils got good taste so inshalah that should b ok) its just the walima outfit that i got to get...i may well get my jewellery from here to go with my outfit

we have alot of family in pak but i wouldnt trust anyone with gettin my wedding jora

i was working for a company where i was entitled to unpaid break of up to a year but just recently changd jobs 4 quite a few reasons

i wish i could leave the job and go but with the current reccession its so hard to find a job and my in laws r in pak therefore meaning me n my hubby to b both have to work hard and settle here...i have my parents but cant live with them 4 the rest of my life!!!

i was thinkin of going to pak in december for 2 weeks to choose my outfit and then my MIL could keep an eye on it while its getting ready because she lives in islamabad and that is where i will be doing my shoppin from inshalah...n then just go for 4weeks 4 the wedding...does that sound ok?

hey miss khan, don't worry, i'd say go for a week or two to find the outfit, and the other 2 weeks for the wedding, i know it sounds short.

Me too, I rather go and get my own wedding stuff than rely on other people to get it, want to see it for my self. I've got school holidays so I guess I'm lucky in that sense, so 3 and a half weeks I will have to find my two wedding lenghas and jewellery, then come again in xmas holidays for about 2 weeks for the wedding. I know how u feel about not being able to spend a lot of time in pak, everything is always rush rush, and its alright for the ones that don't have to work. hang in there, it'll all be worth it in the end

But to me, 2 weeks finding a walima lengha is more than enough time and probably to get jewellery too, especially if ur in islamabad, there should be a good selection of stuff there.
And 4 weeks to spend in pakistan should be adequate too. Get the wedding done within the first two weeks, then chill for the remainder. you'll be fine inshallah. let us know how it goes.

I took three weeks off, and arrived in pak just before the mehndi. Most of my family had arrived before me and luckily I was not the kind of bridezilla who was anal about every tiny detail being my way. I didn't choose my wedding outfits, just specified the colours I would like and trusted the judgement of my cousins and inlaws etc.

Nice and stress free
