ASalaamu Alaikum everyone,,

I just have a question regarding the outfits worn by the bride during the different days of the wedding ... WOuld it be too strange if the bride wears a veryy fancy outfit on the barat day and a much lighter one on the valima day?

I just got my outfits custom made and the both look gorgeous but i feel my valima outfit is muchhhhhhhhh less fancier (if thats a way to put it) then the barat day... would that look weird, comparatively speaking???
shouldd i get something else or just stick with it?

thankssssss

Depends, how much lighter is it. If you personally think it looks good and feel good in it, then it should be fine. Is the jewelry for walima appropriate with the outfit? I for one am not into heavy outfits, my biggest concern is if it looks good and elegant...rather then heavy kaam n flashy. I think it should be fine.

you can always make an outfit look more fancy by a nicer hair do and nice dupatta setting and heavier jewlery .. just make the whole look fancy.. the way you do ur eye makeup etc.. some times a lighter out accentuates and highlights ur faceand jewlery better than a much heavy outfit in which u get lost...

try it on and get the best looking fancy jewlery set to go with it .. and make a nice duppatta setting .. how abt post pics

Ladies...what do you think of this outfit for a mangni? Or maybe a valima?

I hate the tablecloth dupatta (It doesnt even coordinate with the outfit!!!), and the blouse needs to be a little longer (no one wants to see that roll of belly fat sticking out)...but otherwise I really like it. But do you think its one of those outfits that just looks good on the runway, and would be ridiculous in real life? How tall do you think would I need to be to pull off that whole floor-length jacket without looking like a dwarf?

PS...I'm also in love with this saree:

Thje side ruching on the lengha looks weird, like one of those bandeau tube tops...looks bad IMO  I like the design on the long jacket, but i wouldn't wear hte jacket either...I would either have the duputta made that way, or have it made into a shrug with cap sleeves, as if it were a sleeveless dress with jacket put on... and the kaam on the shirt is really nice. Its too dressy for an engagement, for a valima its perfect though

Oh but if you want it with a floor length jacket, but with a churidar suit underneath, that'd be nice for a mangni....

I think its a nice outfit...just the surface fabric i m nt likin very much as it luks kinda cheap. And no, its not really an outfit that would luk only good on runway but ya it wl be quite different as a valima/mangani outfit but isnt that wat every girl wants?!?...And as for yr being able 2 carry it...hmm generally if some is 5'4"-5'5" they wl be able 2 carry it off but than alot depends on their figure 2...and not 2 forget the personality. I would say go for it only if u r comfortable with it no matter how tall ur.

I love the outfit. I'm one to shock people and wear stuff right off the ramps but if you aren't that kind then you can always calm it down a bit.

The only thing I would change is the amount of attention it draws to the breasts.

I definitely agree...the ruching looks terrible. I imagine it wouldnt be too hard to have them make a slim cut lehenga without it.

That's a really good idea. HSY did an outfit like that in one of his very early collections...

What do you think of the long lace sleeves? Do you think theyre too goth looking?

Oh, its definitely waaaay too revealing. If I had that made, the blouse would have to be much longer...I really don't like bare midriffs at all. I kinda like the dull fabric though...I think its a nice contrast from the super heavy blouse...its probably just me though...I tend to like wearing plain sarees with blouses that have a lot of kaam on them.

I'm not short...about 5'6 actually...I just don't know if thats tall enough to pull off a floor length jacket.

I just think that outfit would be so dramatic and different...I haven't seen any dulhans wearing anything remotely similar.

I just didn't post it because I couldn't see the bottom half...and I noticed that a lot of her lehenga skirts have some rather weird detailing that might look good on the runway (and in some cases, not even that), but would just be strange in real life.

Take this outfit for instance:

The blouse is beautiful.

But the lehenga is hideous...she has those random pieces of ribbon running down the skirt so it looks completely shredded...I saw it in the Carinvale de Couture show, and there were just all these pieces of ribbon swinging around all over the place.

I've noticed you complaining a lot about how all these wedding outfits arent "practical." What do you mean? Have you ever seen a "practical" wedding dress? I saw the Indian outfit you want to get in the bridalwear thread, and I'm pretty sure you won't be wearing that to davats 5 years from now either.

Hiya Girls,

Just wanted to ask you guys what you think of this for a Valima outfit?

I'm 5'10 so i think the gharara should look nice?

I'm in love with this...but i think this is one of those things that would only turn out amazing if made by the original designer?

Also, I've been told pink is an extremely common colour for Valima, so i should steer clear of it...But it's my fav colour...

Thanks for your thoughts!xxx
