thank you! i like the first one better but it seems so expensive! over $500! its ok about the hairstylist, we know a family friend who does wonderful bridal hairstyling, so really i'm only looking for a make-up artist. it would be good to find one that knows more about the paki style because i don't want something too light but not something too fake-looking either. do you think their (the first website's) 'basic application' would be enough for a desi bride? or would i have to go for the bridal package?

thank you for the help. i guess i'm looking for a more desi type artist. because i got my nikkah make-up done from MAC here, but everyone was like you don't have any make-up on, you are a bride you should have had more makeup. so i guess for the actual wedding i don't wanna go too light again. i think that prom package would work, no? it doesn't seem too light but not too heavy. man i really liked the bridal package but theres no way i can afford that l do you have experience or know anyone who has had experience from the places you have posted?
also, are you from the dallas area too?
again, thank you for your help!

no it wasn't from the galleria mall. from the willow bend mall. but i don't think it was the artist that was bad, i think they just didn't know how heavy to go. because i personally loved the make-up but everyone else told me it wasn't enough (even my mom).

Wow, usually mac makeup artists have really heavy makeup, at least hte ones here do.... Or maybe they do it differently on their clients than on themselves?
Was I not supposed to say that?

What colors did you go for.Like what was the color of your outfi verus your makeup. The pics I have seen in the websites mentioned above are all too light. The eyes are not played up like our own Pakistani makeup artists do.I know the lady at Zulfain Salon in irving used to do a good job.
One thing I can suggest is maybe look up makeup artists in the Desi Yellow Pages or maybe ask recommendations from maybe that Radia Salam Namaste people. And aanother suggestion is in Houston there is Ayesha's Beauty Salon...ask for a recommendation from her as she owns 5 salons and also provides classes ...surely she my remember someone really good in Dallas.

my dress color was tea pink and maroon, and the eye makeup was pink, gold and a little hint of purple as a shadow. but yeah, the eye makeup and especially the foundation/base was really light. my wedding dress will most probably be white or some light shade.
thats a good idea about desi yellowpages, and the radio people. i'm gonna try that. thank you.

i am surprised...most of the gori women i know end up putting a lot of makeup...haha..
and Sila is in Austin...she can travel to dallas area..only if you pay for her trip...

unfortunately she doesn't have a salon. she only does them on special requests, in a little parlor area she set up in her basement before she had kids, but nowadays she is busy with her children, (she used to work for Tony & Guy so she has lots of experience desi & american).
sounds great about the prom make-up then!! and i guess thats why they have trials, to see if you are satisfied. i'll check it out. do you know anybody with experience at any of these places?
