Last weekend I went to a valima and the bride (fresh from pakistan) wore a bridal lengha that looked so pretty it was like something from benzerworld.com. Anyhow her whole stomach was showing...like a lot of it. Then my cousin said that the skirt is suppose to be worn even lower down and she's suppose to be showing more stomach and that this is the new trend in pakistan; meaning indian looking bridal lenghas. Uhh is that true? Because even at my hindu friends wedding they kinda drape their dupatta in a way and don't show that much...so ya are pakis pushing the limit and showing their stomachs fully now?
Oooh...I know exactly what you mean.
I also went to a valima in August, and the bride wore a tight lengha and short top which was like a bodice with flimsy strap like things on her shoulders....no dupatta just a thin stole wrapped around her wrists..Although she looked incredibly beautiful, it's not something I would be prepared to let my daughter wear. After mini CO picked her jaw off the floor, she was all eyes.I soon put her right!!.Plus...both families are conservative people and very 'namaazy' etc.The mind boggles.
Never underestimate a woman's strength or overestimate her weight

hey since i was at the same valima i knw what u talking abt ...but another problem was that the salon lady didn't fix her dupatta correctly (didn't knw how)...so it was actually suppose to be draped over to cover up.

so it was suppose to be a bit more gujurati style bc she wore it a bit like madhuri did when she did her first song in devdas, which is always a nice way to drape it but dude seriously what's going on with paki fashion. first capris, then sleeveless, then sari wearing was accepted and now this? i dunno...
i have a question regarding shirt lengths. i'm not exactly sure what my size is, cuz i have varying sizes in my closet according to the piece that i'm buying. i'm a little under 5'7" ... and my sizes range from an XS to an M ... and from an 8 to a 10 ...
it's quite annoying as well .. and becuz of this i can never buy online ... some have too short arm-length, or aren't small enough at the waist, and too tight around the hip .. crazy ... does anyone else have this problem too?
anyways ... shirt length ... when i get a long shirt made ... it kinda dangles around everywhere ... and doesn't deem very practical then ... (trauma of a random child pulling at my shirt at a wedding, while i was trying to balance my plate full of food, and kick him off at the same time )
was my shirt too long??? what is considered a normal long shirt? how many inches longer from the knees?
also where do your shirt chaak (the side slits) normally begin from?
well congrats, you didn't spill the plate of food right? also I wonder why so many desi children are allowed to run wild at weddings. my parents would have never allowed anyone in my house to act that way. And i like kids, they are cute and normally sweet but sometimes i wish they weren't always playing tag or crawling under tableclothes at some of the functions i've been to.
Well, all this trying-to-be-hip desi stuff is pretty annoying. I really don't like the daring bride thing, even though the media showcases Pakistanis wearing trashy revealing clothes as it is the norm in our daily life, too. I think people living abroad take it as a true picture and dress up accordingly - Resulting in belly baring brides in tight lenghas and short sleeveless tops.
It looks funny even the celebs are shown wearing these outfits to their parties:
and the fashion spread shows these as bridal fashion:
Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond to look beyond the imperfections!
