I know that releasing doves at weddings is a gora wedding tradition but can it be included in the guest entertainment list in a desi wedding.

Have you ever been to a wedding where this was done?

This is a really nice idea but the thing with desi weddings is that they happen at night. Would it make sense to release doves at night?

i was thinking of incorporating this tradition at my wedding actually! i want an afternoon valima so do you think it would be okay to release doves at the valima? or should it be done on the baraat?

I'd love to do this.. wonder if the doves stay together afterwards..

I want to realise butterflies. There was a show on tv about a Royal wedding and they did it, looked so unbelievebly beautifuuul.

I think it would be fine on a Valima as well. As, it isn't specifically our tradition, it can be adapted on any day. Also, I think incorporating western traditions gel well with a valima setup rather than the wedding. Just my opinion.

i went to a mehndi where they r eleased parrot and yelled "larki walo ke totte orr gai!" what the hell.. lol

I hate to be crass, but am I the only one thinking of bird poo? Seriously, I imagine it could be a real problem! My sister went to this wedding, and through out there were these strange birds flying around, pooing on everyone! At night! So weird! So what if that happened when you released doves? Again, sorry about being so disgusting!

Releasing butterflies seems like a grand idea. I think they'll look amazing and better than the birds.

how about confettis or balloons? not a big fan of the idea itself... just seems weird.. but suggestions otherwise

Confetti seems okay but I really am not a fan of balloons at a wedding. They just seem so birthday partyish.

On the other hand, the couple releasing a bunch of colourful helium filled balloons seem like a good idea.

I have seen it in some movie... someone released bunch of helium filled colorful balloons.. it looked pretty.. i think it was an english movie.. no no the movie "UP" :P
