Hello folks,

Today marks the start of the week of Pakistani Independence Day celebrations. This shall last from August 11 through August 17. Pakistan gained its indepedence on August 14th, 1947. So many sacrifices were made in the formation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. This has been no easy ride, but the nation of Pakistan has survived through all hardships. It is a blessing for all its citizens whether living in Pakistan or abroad. It gives us a sense of identity.

Although numerous films have been made dedicated to Pakistan, GS Team made the tremendous effort to bring all its members and visitors a series of special treats for this week which can be found throughout the GS Forum. I encourage you all to browse around.

The video that has been embedded in this thread is the product of Mr. Akber Ahmed. This gentleman is an anthropologist, filmmaker, administrator, and a muslim scholar from Pakistan. The credit for the production of this film goes to Akber Ahmed.

Let this week be a resemblance of Multi-national harmony, healthy discussions as always, and make the effort to reach out and touch others' lives in a positive way, even if virtually. Last but not least, Enjoy yourselves.

A special thanks to all those involved in making this possible. Thank you all so much.

Long Live Pakistan!

Jinnah, the movie is one of the most well maid movies that I've ever seen. It realy takes you back in that time .

I love the casting. Both Chrisopher Lee and Shireen Shah played Jinnah and Fatima Jinnah in a great way.

Thanks Teggy bhai.

Indeed an excellent Movie and though initially after its controversial and much delayed release in 2000 it was much criticized for Akbar S Ahmed having taken a very unique angle to portary the life of Quaid-e-Azam Jinnah; though after re-watching the movie many people would agree that the approach taken by the film maker was absolutely marvellous.

He approached the man Jinnah from the mysterious and controversial figure that he has often (though wrongly) been portrayed to be. Akber Ahmed put Jinnah through a trial levelling all public perceptions and criticisms as well as allegations ever raised against him and very beautifully answered and logically satisfied each one of them, thereby clearing the misconceptions or misrepresentations about our Founding Father and propelling his stature much higher for the entire world to realize and respect!

The actors did an excellent job and my particular favourite was the young Jinnah Richard Lintern; very sharp and charismatic.

Thanks for sharing teggy, and all involved!
