140 killed, 800 hurt in China riots
BEIJING: Chinese state media says that 140 people have been killed and more than 800 hurt in violence in the country's western Xinjiang region.
The official news agency did not immediately give any other details Monday on the number of deaths, but said the death toll ``was still climbing.''
It earlier reported that four people had been killed in violence after protesters from a Muslim ethnic group rioted Sunday in the region's capital Urumqi, overturning barricades, attacking bystanders and clashing with police. The protesters were demanding an investigation into a fight between Uighurs and Han Chinese workers at a southern China factory last month that state media said left two people dead.

China is time tested true friend of Pakistan. Pakistan should say this is an "Internal Matter" of Chinese and not interfere. China and Pakistan are "brotherly nations", time tested relationship.

There's a difference between master and a friend. Wear something your hatred is showing.

I am also shocked that no one is saying anything. Uyghurs have been fighting and struggling for very long time but they get least attention from Muslims countries and media.

Sounds like an endorsement for BLA if you replace Uyghurs with "Balochs"...
silly rioters! should be arrested, and tried according to the law, not to mention the deaths that were caused. Very tragic. May the deceased rest in peace.
To the cynical remarks up there, and the obvious stench of sarcasm: Pakistan and China are indeed good friends, and this is China's internal matter. Xinjiang is not a disputed international matter like Palestine or Kashmir. So even comparing the two is a long shot, which doesn't measure up.
China gets a thumbs up, instigators (read instigating separatist leaders sitting in U.S. stirring trouble in native land using pawns) get a big thumbs down!

Curfew declared in restive Chinese region
By WILLIAM FOREMAN, Associated Press Writer William Foreman, Associated Press Writer – 1 hr 15 mins ago
URUMQI, China – Chinese state media say that the government in the restive western region of Xinjiang has declared a curfew following the violence of recent days that has killed at least 156 people and paralyzed the main city of Urumqi.
The official Xinhua News Agency said Tuesday that the curfew from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday was needed to "avoid further chaos," according to Wang Lequan, Communist Party boss for Xinjiang.
Xinhua said Wang had also called for avoiding confrontation between ethnic groups.
Urumqi was tense Tuesday, with protests happening in several parts of the city and both Han Chinese and Uighur groups facing off with armed police.

Excellent decision, and very timely.

UN (read U.S.) doesn't want to tick off China (so openly) for obvious reasons.

Chinese are not rioting in another country. That's why it's internal matter. Rest of the world have no say in it.

What's wrong with this guys.Of couse ,the riots in China is an internal matter ,the other country couldn"t interfer it .I think the chinese would be able to deal with it well. And in the other way,the rioters deserve to be punished. They killed and injuried a lot innocent person even include some childen, they destoried some shops, buildings ,not only the han chinese but also some Muslims were hurt too, this is hard to believe, only the evils can do it.
