Here i m sharing an extract of khutba of Amir ul Momin Hazrat Yazid ibn Muaiva (RA) and this sermon speaks volume of the fact that how eloquent, knowledgeable and humble he was! Beside having an in-depth knowledge of ilm deen.
The original source of this khutba is book “badaya o wun nahaya (means beginning and Ending) by Allama Ibn Kaseer.

it is unfortunate that the few historains tried to sacndalize his personailty. Except prophets nobody is infallible. he was a competent ruler and allah fearing person. (walla o alam)

Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar said about this scumbag Yazid Laeen:

Qatl e Hussain asl mein marg e YAZID he
Islam zinda hota he har Karbala ke baad

Ibn Kathir, a 14th century Sunni Shafi'i Islamic scholar writes:

“ Traditions inform us that Yazeed loved worldly vices, would drink, listen to kept the company of boys with no facial hair [11], played drums, kept dogs [12], not a day would go by when he was not in a drunken state [13] ”
“ Muslim was ordered to ransack Medina for three days. Yazeed committed a major sin. Sahaba and their children were slaughtered openly; other heinous acts were also perpetuated. We have already mentioned that he had Ibn Ziyad kill the grandson of Rasulullah (s) Husayn and his companions. In those three days in Madina, it is difficult to mention the type of acts that were carried out. By doing this act Yazeed wanted to secure his governance, in the same way Allah (swt) broke the neck of every Pharaoh, the true King (swt) also broke the neck of Yazeed."
      ...

"Rasulullah (s) said whoever perpetuated injustice and frightened the residents of Medina, the curse (la'nat) of Allah (swt), His Angels and all people is on such a person [14]

“ When Yazeed wrote to Ibn Ziyad ordering him to fight Ibn Zubayr in Makka, he said 'I can't obey this fasiq. I killed the grandson of Rasulullah upon his orders, I'm not now going to assault the Kaaba'. [13] ”
“ Ibn Asakir, writing on Yazeed, states then when Husayn's head was brought before Yazeed, he recited the couplets of Ibn Zubayri the kaafir 'I wish my ancestors of Badr were here to see the severed head of the rebellious tribe (Muhammad's tribe, Hashim). [15] ”
“ Whoever frightens Medina incurs the wrath of Allah, His Angels and all the people - and some Ulema have deemed it permissible to curse Yazeed. This includes individuals such as Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Allamah Hilalee, Abu Bakr Abdul Aziz, Qadhi Abu Ya'ala and his son Qadhi Abu Husayn. Ibn Jauzi wrote a book deeming it permissible to curse Yazeed [13]

I don't think even a sensible sunni would call yazid, Hazrat Yazid or follow his practices, a person who had brutally killed the grandson of Prophet pbuh.

Maybe i need search but the point here is that majority of sahaba and tabain did bayaat of yazid and remained stick to it. Even after the martyrdom of hazrat hussain.

And the ppl did not support those who tried to khurroj against him: like hazrat hussain and hazrat ibn zubair. Only hazrat ibn zubair got limited success in makkah and that was due to leniency of yazid as he did not want to wage a war against the ppl of makkah, as hazrat muavia advised him. Further he ddid consider them a real threat to his khilafat.

As far as hazrat hussain bin ali is concerned, even bani hashim and bani abbas did not supported the hazrat hussain as they don’t think it right and legitimate. So he had to seek the help of kuffa to get some power who were very famous for their tricks, indiscipline.

{I give u an example about the behaaviour of kufa ppl. In the era of hazrat umer they complained against Hazrat Saad Bin Ibi Waqas to caliph Hazrat Umer RA that they don’t do the imamat and offer in a right way. At this haazrat saad got furious and said that how strange u ppl are. I m one of the first seventh person who embraced islam and remained wid the prophet for a long period of time and u say that I don’t know how to do imamat of namaz”}.

And then incident of karbala occurred. Majority of the reliable sources indicates that hazrat yazid had nothing to do wid the martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain. He simply asked to stop hazrat hussain so that they cud not reach kufa. It is said that the war started by the brothers of Hazrat Muslim Bin Aqeel who was disgruntled on the death of hazrat muslim bin aqeel and wanted to take revenge of his death………… as per the arab tradition. Fight lasted only two or three hours and that’s it.

It is important to note that hazrat umro bin saad ra who was commanding the yazid army was the son of Hazrat Saad Bin Ibi Waqas – the conquerer of iran. Few traditions says that umro was was a sahabi and few says he was a taabi. So the bottom line is that it was a political event rather a war between kufr and islam. Same like siffin and jamal.

But one need to bear in mind that nobody is beyond the law and it is the responsibility of the ruler to ensure law and order.

I m not saying that hazrat yazid was an angel and in the same token hazrat hussain was also not an angel. They were human beings and every one has limitation and weaknesses. So don’t make so much polarization make one an angel and other as devil. Both of them have their merits and weaknesses. So unnecessary exaggeration shud be avoided.

I think few historians have unnecessarily made the karbala incident as a religious one. In order to make their view strong they started to scandalize the personality of hazrat yazid. In effect karbala was purely a political event.

      See sahih bukhari wherever Hazart Imam Muhammad Bin Isamail Bukhari have mentioned about yazid and haven’t mentioned nething that is generally very popular today about the character of yazid. {wallah o alam}
If time is not real, then the dividing line between this world and eternity, between suffering and bliss, between good and evil, is also an illusion.

What sahaabis and what bayaah? After Abu Bakr passed away there was NO bayaah. He chose Umar, Umar chose Usmaan and then came Muawiyaah who then chose Yazid as his successor. There was never a bayaat.

As far as hazrat hussain bin ali is concerned, even bani hashim and bani abbas did not supported the hazrat hussain as they don’t think it right and legitimate. So he had to seek the help of kuffa to get some power who were very famous for their tricks, indiscipline.

This made me laugh. First, Bani Abbas was already cruel beforehand, I don't believe they would support Imam Al-Hussain in one way, or the other. As for Bani Hashim, all of Bani Hashim was gone during that period! All of Hazrat Abdul Muttalib's children had passed away. The only remaining members were Imam Hussain, his sisters and children. Now tell me, were they not in Karbala?

And then incident of karbala occurred. Majority of the reliable sources indicates that hazrat yazid had nothing to do wid the martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain. He simply asked to stop hazrat hussain so that they cud not reach kufa.

Wow, then explain to me, who really killed Imam Hussain? And while you're at it, please show me those ahadith.

It is said that the war started by the brothers of Hazrat Muslim Bin Aqeel who was disgruntled on the death of hazrat muslim bin aqeel and wanted to take revenge of his death………… as per the arab tradition. Fight lasted only two or three hours and that’s it

Now this is just..wow. There are a handful of ahadith about Karbala and the purpose at the BIRTH of Imam Hussain. Who ordered the killings of Muslim ibn Aqeel, his brothers and sons/nephews? I'm pretty sure it was Ibn Ziyaad who was Yazid's chamcha.

Narrated Umm al-Fadl daughter of al-Harith

Umm al-Fadl went in to see Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) andsaid, "Messenger of Allah, I had an objectionable dream last night." Heasked
what it was and she replied, "It was terrible." He asked, "But what wasit?" She replied, "I seemed to see a piece of your body cut off andplaced in my
lap." He said, "You have seen something good. If Allah wills Fatimahwill give birth to a son who will be in your lap." Fatimah then gavebirth to
al-Husayn who was placed in her lap as Allah's Messenger (peace be uponhim) had said. One day she went in to see Allah's messenger and placed
him in his lap. She turned round, and noticing tears falling from the eyes of Allah's Messenger, she said, "Prophet of Allah, for whom I would give my
father and mother as ransom, what is the matter with you?" He replied,"Gabriel came to me and informed me that my people will kill this sonof mine."
She asked if he really meant this one and he replied, "Yes, and he brought me a piece of red earth." (Tirmidhi, hadith 1639)

Umar, not Umro. Political event lol, wow. Explained above.

I think few historians have unnecessarily made the karbala incident as a religious one. In order to make their view strong they started to scandalize the personality of hazrat yazid. In effect karbala was purely a political event.
      Allahu Akbar.

Well, "Hazrat" Yazid followed the traditions of his ancestors like "Hazrat" Hinda, and killed Prophet's son.
Pretty much an enemy of Islam.

Imam Hanbal says it is permissible to curse this Shaitan Yazid

I feel immensely sorry for your poor and wretched state of mind, maverick!

Have you forgotten the Prophet's (s.a.w.s) golden words," Hussain-o-minni wa'na minal Hussain" ?? When you rationalize the accursed creature Yazid's atrocities against God's Apostle's family (pbut) , and his brutal killing of Imam Hussain and his accomplices, then you're in a dire need for some good counselling or perhaps a medical treatment of some sorts..
Samundar ki lehron ko dekh kar aksar sochti hoon, jo kinaaron se takra kar laut jaati hain..Karti hain ye kinaaron se bewafai ya samundar se apni wafa nibhaati hain?

thanks 4 the prayer as far hazrat muavia is concerned as he was a sahabi, a great, leader and warrior. as far as hazrat yazid is concerned is bit controversial or has been made bit controversial.

i wud not mind naming my son name as yazid. but he was a tabi and many sahaba had name yazid including the brother of hazrat muavia who was a great general and took part in wars in syria. so association of the name wid a sahabi wud be better idea rather than wid a taabi.
